2011 Volkswagen Touareg - WVGFK9BP6BD- Acton, MA: August 28th, 2012
Wednesday 8/15 - following an approximately 50 mile early morning highway drive from home to a remote office location, the engine stalled while standing at a stop light. I immediately restarted and proceed a short distance through the light, wherein the engine failed again. Attempts to restart were unsuccessful, with multiple engine lights, glow plug coil signals displayed. Car towed to dealership for evaluation. Following day, 8/16 advised that the 'algae' discovered in fuel - requiring drain of fuel tank, flush and cleaning of fuel system - estimated cost ~ $400. Following day, 8/17 advised that drain, flush complete but that fuel return valve required replacement - estimated cost increased to ~$800. Parts ordered, car to remain at dealership through weekend. Tuesday 8/21 received call, advised that 'metal shavings in fuel system' required complete replacement of fuel system - approx. $10,000 repair. Regional vw service rep. Reviewed matter and assumed responsibility for repair. Questioned sudden shift from algae to metal shavings contamination without material response. Later that day received follow up call that parts required 'red tag' ordering, meaning parts had to come from germany. Car to be laid up for additional 10 days (approx). 8/27 - asked for update and use of loaner car. Parts still on order. Dealership had not experienced non - gasoline generated fuel system contamination/failure - no reasoned explanation for failure. Loaner car denied as car was beyond 36k warranty period, yet vw elected to assume responsibility for repair. Web based research indicateswell documented and growing tdi fuel system failure problem. ## vin passed ## vw toureag tdi 2011 ##

1998 Volkswagen Beetle - 3VWBF61C2WM- Brownsburg, IN: August 28th, 2012
Windows started going up and down randomly and doors locking/unlocking randomly. As i was reaching through my window to gram my keys from the ignition my arm got pinched, and lodged in the window that was going up, (i was trying to get my keys before getting locked out of the car (again) due to the random locking and unlocking). Auto reversal of the windows when an appendage gets lodged in the window did not occur. This pinched and lodged my left arm in the window to a point of bruising an area of 4 inches by 2 inches. After exhaustively researching this issue (which is a common issue with the door lock modules on the 98-02 vw beetles with the old style "loud" power locks) i concluded that the door lock module and the door closed microswitch were with culprits of this incident. I am very grateful that this only occurred to a 32 year old man and not one of my 4 small children (7mo-7 years). Vwoa should do their research and see that hundreds if not thousands of vw owners have had to replace dlms on multiple doors at a cost of at least $200+ each door (more at the dealership). This should be a recall for the safety factor alone, let alone the inconvenience factor of having to replace a dlm because of a $3 microswitch at the door closed sensor, or 1 of 6 bad solder joints on the circuit board inside the door lock module. Information on the exact problem can be found on multiple vw repair sites (tdiclub. Com; vwvortex. Com; newbeetle. Org; etc, etc, etc) i do understand that my car is 14 years old, however i have had to spend over $1000 fixing vw factory mistakes on this car already. I love vw, being a former owner of several air cooled vws in the past, however this will severely affect my decision to ever buy another water cooled vw.

2005 Volkswagen Gti - 9BWDE61J554- Orlando, FL: August 27th, 2012
I have a significant water leak in passenger side of hatchback interior, presumably related to rear sunroof drain recall. Did not receive any recall notice from vw in regards to the sunroof drain complaints, and just discovered the "water ingress settlement vin lookup. " my vin was included, yet the recall date passed on 12/31/2011. I am unsatisfied that given the seriousness of the leak, and resulting damage to the interior of my vehicle, vw did not contact me for inspection/repairs. According to vw, my vehicle currently has no open recalls. However, this water leak renders my vehicle unusable during inclement weather, fogging up every window surface to the point my view is completely obstructed.

2003 Volkswagen Beetle - 3VWCD21C83M- Davie, FL: August 24th, 2012
The 2003 vw beetle has started to slip at 96,500 miles going from 2nd to 3rd gear. I have done alot of online research and there are several forums and thousands of similar cases as the one i am having. I called vw of america customer care and talked to tim and he said because the car was out of warranty they could not do anything. I mentioned that the problem seems to be the valve body and he agreed but still could not help me. Further research led to me finding a class action suit agains vw america for exactly this problem. Since there are so many documented cases, i feel there should be a recall immediately as this can lead to a serious safety issue on the road. Worse yet, vw knows about it and is not doing anything! Please help. ## vin passed ## vw beetle 2003 ##

2012 Volkswagen Golf - WVWDM7AJXCW- Cedar Park, TX: August 23rd, 2012
Fuel pump failure, random power cut out due to fault mode. System flashes a glow plug light instead of a check engine light not signaling a obvious failure.

2009 Volkswagen Jetta - 3VWTL81K79M- Birmingham, MI: August 21st, 2012
While driving at 50 mph, my vehicle stopped accelerating and rpm would not increase above 2000rpm. The glow plug and check engine warning lights both came on. This almost resulted in an accident. I avoided being hit by a large truck while i was stalled in the center lane of a highway. I had my vehicle taken to the dealership for repair. The dealership replaced the fuel rail switch, but the same issue occurred in june 2012, july 2012, and august 2012. This appears to be an issue related to the hpfp (fuel pump). I am not very satisfied with the vw dealership's inability to correct this issue. I lose fuel pressure on a regular basis which causes safety concerns while merging into traffic.

2010 Volkswagen Jetta - 3VWTL8AJ5AM- Fort Wayne, IN: August 20th, 2012
Car has had issues 4k on. Car would accelerate on its own from 70 mph to 75 like wide open throttle. Car will quit at highway speeds 70 mph (no power steering, no brakes, just the service engine now and glowplug light are on flashing,(50k on) this has happened 4 times, car will quit making a right hand turn hitting pothole (50k on). Total dpf system has been changed out two times from two dealers , 3 total with original. Erratic egr signal was always tripping check engine light, some faults but not all are exhaust gas recirc flow insufficient detected sporadic, cylinder 2 injector n31 open circuit sporadic, exhaust aftertreatment fuel supply control performance sporadic, throttle actuator control motor circuit range/performance sporadic, navigation antenna (gps) short to earth. Dealers have spent over 20 thousand dollars parts and labor, in 4 different shops over 83 days (overnight), over 95 including reading codes only. Out of warranty expenditures over 1 thousand dollars so far. 69,000 miles and the dealer tech has no idea how to fix this car, he started out saying he has never seen a car he can't fix. I have over 50 pages of dealer documented faults and repairs, reprogramming ecu, was replaced this year to see if that would fix problems, some gone but now major issues listed above are happening. Replaced diesel particulate filter 2 times, replaced o2 sensors, replaced egr sensors and gaskets 2 times, replace throttle position sensor, replaced pressure sensor. Only item not replaced is the wiring harness.

2012 Volkswagen Jetta - 3VWDP7AJ3CM- Morganville, NJ: August 20th, 2012
Hello, purchased a vw jetta se on 7/20/12 and almost 1 month after the purchase i was driving on a local highway at apx. 50 mph around 5:30pm when car headlights blinked and car died (stalled). Attempted to re-start a car without any success. Since vw dealer was closed already - called a local auto shop and they towed a car to a shop to find an issue. Mechanic could not see anything obvious so he re-set a computer in my car and he was able to start it. Drove home. Later in the evening - drove to pick-up some food and on the way home (inside a development) - while making a left turn at apx. 15-18 mph - pressed brakes and realized i had none and at the same time car stalled and since it was raining and i was already slightly turning left - car slid in the direction on my turn and right rear tire hit the curb, tire fall off, car hit a street sign and an electric pool (both fell to the ground) and brought me to a complete stop on the grass. Police was contacted and a car was towed to a nearest body shop. Filing a complaint with vw - will see what they have to say.

2012 Volkswagen Beetle - 3VWJP7ATOCM- Maumee, OH: August 19th, 2012
The power window do not go up right. When window are down trying to put up window they go up and stop one third of the way and spring back down push switch to go up window go up half up spring back down this go on two to three time if you hold switch in up they go up and smell like smoke. The dealer said v. W. Is trying to correct this problem but at this time there is no know fix. I think this is a safety problem not being able two roll window up right a way if we had to in a emergency not to say the smoke smell.

2010 Volkswagen Jetta - 3VWRL8AJ4AM- Atlanta , GA: August 15th, 2012
2010 vw jetta tdi - high pressure fuel pump problems resulting in pieces destroying fuel system. Damage estimated at $10,000. Car spent one month last year in the shop for related issues.

2005 Volkswagen Jetta - 3VWRT71K35M- Brick, NJ: August 14th, 2012
I tried to pull across a busy intersection and the engine died. It was bucking and kept stalling out when i tried to move the car across to get out of on coming traffic.

2012 Volkswagen Golf - WVWDM7AJ8CW- Miami, FL: August 14th, 2012
At 6,519 miles, while about to enter the on-ramp of a local highway, the check engine light and glow plug indicator light began to flash. I was able to veer off the entrance ramp and continue down the down to the nearest safe parking lot area; as i pulled into the parking lot area, the vehicle shuddered and suddenly shut off. It would not re-start, and we had to arrange for a tow to a family members house through our insurance company. In the morning we had a tow to our dealer set up through volkswagen roadside service, who would not cover the entire cost of the tow to our preferred dealer, so we paid the difference out of our own pocket. I was notified by the dealer that the fuel pump (commonly referred to as hpfp) basically imploded and sent metal throughout the entire fuel system, which now needs to be replaced. We own two volkswagen diesel (tdi) vehicles; this one, a 2012 golf tdi, and a 2010 jetta tdi. They are both filled up at the exact same pump from the exact same station about 99% of the time. At the time this incident occurred, the golf had 281 miles on the current tank of diesel which was filled up on 08/03/2012. I filled up my jetta tdi at the same pump on 08/06/2012, currently have over 230 miles on that tank of diesel, and have not experienced any problems. We keep meticulous documentation of our diesel usage, cost, etc. With receipts and other logs, and can safely state that this was not due to a mistake on our part. Rather, this is a design failure and/or oversight on the part of both volkswagen and bosch, the hpfp manufacturer. I am a veteran member of the tdiclub vw diesel online community, and there is extensive information and documentation there of these repeated failures. 2012 Volkswagen Jetta - VW- Friendswood, TX: August 13th, 2012
High pressure fuel pump failed. Took to dealer and they repaired and said they are having problems with them.

2006 Volkswagen Rabbit - WVWDS71K86W- Clarkston , MI: August 13th, 2012
On two separate incidents i had my air bags light came on. I brought it to the volkswagen dealer and they fixed the wires under the seat the first time at no charge the second time i was charged $100. 00. The problem was the same but on both seats first, was the passengers seat the second time, was the drivers seatdriver seat. I contacted customer care at volkswagen and they said due to the age and mileage (2006 with 69000 miles ) the cost wont be covered i feel that since this is a safety issue and other people have had the same issue (internet) they should be a recall and reimbursement for repairs.

2012 Volkswagen Golf - WVWDB7AJ1CW- Bronx, NY: August 10th, 2012
Leaving a parking lot, put the gear into reverse and was going forward. Put the gear in parking 3 x and back to reverse 3 x, but still going forward. Couldn't turn off the engine. Opened the door, and after maybe 10 minutes was able to turn off the engine, gave it a minute and then use the reverse gear and it worked.

2009 Volkswagen Jetta - 3VWTL81K19M- Santa Fe, NM: August 9th, 2012
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the vehicle made a loud buzzing noise with the illumination of the instrument panel warning lights. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the fuel pump failed. The failure mileage was not available.

2006 Volkswagen Jetta - 3VWSG71K26M- Wilmot, NH: August 8th, 2012
The driver's side window in my vehicle stopped working completely. When i took the vehicle to the dealer they told me the cause was a faulty driver's side door harness. There were several wires that were broken or about to break, and they suggested i replace it immediately. I was quoted over $400 for parts and labor. This issue was recalled on the earlier models, and then fixed on the 2008 and later models during production. However the 2006 and 2007 models are still affected by the problem. Volkswagen has not issued a recall for this crucial part and continues to let its customers pay for the dangerous design flaw in these vehicles. Warning to potential buyers: before purchasing a 2005. 5 (newer body style), 2006, or 2007 jetta check to make sure this problem has been fixed. Otherwise, you could wind up with your power windows, locks, mirrors, gas door, and trunk release no longer working when you need them to. Also, i was told the vehicle would not pass inspection with this problem. It is a risk and a safety concern that should be recalled immediately.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta - 3VWPX7AJ0BM- Jacksonville, FL: August 7th, 2012
The contact owns 2011 volkswagen jetta with hankook optimo h725a tires, line size: 205/55r/16. The contact mentioned that while at a tire shop for unrelated repairs, the technician noticed that the interior side walls of three of the tires started to rupture in and around the circumference. The contact stated that one of the tires was the front driver side but was unaware of the location of the other two tires affected. The tires were replaced. The dealer was made aware of failure. The dot number was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 34,500.

2007 Volkswagen Jetta - 3VWGF71K97M- Cambridge, MA: August 6th, 2012
The electric door locks on my 2007 jetta failed to lock or unlock using the electric lock buttons in the doors or by using the remote. Only the driver's side rear door responds to any lock action. The driver's door only locks and unlocks with the key in the lock. This was not due to dead batteries in the remote control. This is a commonly reported problem (as observed by online reports by other owners) and could lead to safety concerns if a person is unable to unlock a door to exit the vehicle, or personal property concerns if a person cannot lock their door.

2006 Volkswagen Beetle - 3VWSF31Y46M- San Jose, CA: August 4th, 2012
Defective rear power window regulators. Rear window stuck half open, unable to lock car.
