2003 Pontiac Pontiac - 1G2WK52JX3F- Johnston City, IL: December 23rd, 2007
I bought my grand prix from chip banks in duquoin, il. In august of 2006 and it had only 39,500 after owning it for 4 months the head started to misfire. I had someone look at it and they said it had been healy coiled to just temporarily fix the problem. I contacted the dealer i bought the car from and they said they would fix my car but i had to pay for it. I did not buy the extended warranty for my car because i could not afford it and it did not have very many miles on it so i thought it would be okay. I had it healy coiled to repair it and it held for 8 months and now all the other rocker arms are needing healy coiled in because they are worn out and they are dropping the push rod into my head. I bought a new head for my car and had it installed and now the other head is doing the same thing. Please help me. I am the mother of four and i am low income i called chip banks and they will not help me and i have no way to get my kids around. One thing about my car is advanced auto where i got my head from had to special order it because it had a 8 mm bolt pattern so i don't know if that helps answer any questions you may have or not. I gave $13,000. 00 for this car and i cannot afford another car and i don't want another car i love my grand prix i just need to know if the heads have been recalled or something. I tried to go on car fax. Com and it said my car had eleven reports on it but i do not own a credit card so i cannot purchase it to find out what has happened to my car. The dealership did not tell me if the car had ever been wrecked or the engine messed up or anything. Thank you.

I have numerous problems with the cooling system with this 2002 grand am. First thermostat went. Had thermostat replaced -- car continued to run hot , losing power and shut off.... Have replaced water pump, hoses, and intake valve and problem still existed with car losing pressure and running hot. Also had head gaskets replaced because of this problem.... This car has stopped on me 4 times on the highway.... In checking out other complaints there seems to be problem with the cooling system.... What can i do to have this car repaired -- can a recall be issued.... Professionals are at a loss as to what the problem is????

1995 Pontiac Pontiac - 1G2HX52KXS4- Cleveland, OH: August 26th, 2007
My family, and i were returning home on i-77 from a camping trip, when without warning, the passenger air bag deployed, shattering the windshield. We made it safely to the side of the road, scared, and dazed, trying to figure out what had just happened. Fifteen minutes later, we returned to the vehicle to try to make it the rest of the way home, when about five miles later, the driver side air bag deployed. We were in no accident, and had no warning light, or signal. My daughter was burned, and cut with flying glass, i too, was cut, as was my fiance. Our lives will never be the same. Air bags are supposed to protect not kill. Gm needs to be held responsible for malfunctions in their products. We could have all been killed, and i don't feel that g. M. Cares. And now to find out that g. M. Knew about possible malfunctions, and didn't let the public know. Something needs to be done!!!!!!!

2001 Pontiac Pontiac - 1G2NW52EX1C- Grand Prairie, TX: August 26th, 2007
Have a 01 grand am gt with the turn signal clicking noise that is coming from the dash. When i hit a bump on the road or touch my turning signal lever it will start clicking. However, it will make this morse code clicking noise that is saying gm will not pay for this problem, hand over 300 dollars. I know this to be true because the service manager at my local pontiac dealer said so. He also stated that they do a ton of these repairs, especially 01 to 04 pontiac grand am's.

2003 Pontiac Pontiac - 1G2WR52143F- Novi, MI: March 22nd, 2007
My 2003 grand prix gtp, which had regular car maintenance service, caught on fire in the parking lot when i was at work. A co-employee told me she heard these grand prix have a history of catching on fire and i checked on the internet and found articles that they do have a number of reports of engine fires, which mine was. Therefore, i thought i would file a complaint report.

1998 Pontiac Pontiac - 1G2WP52K5WF- Menands, NY: March 22nd, 2007
I own a 98 pontiac grand prix, black, four door automatic. I have been paying for this car for about two years. I went to start my car and it was dead so we hooked it up to a power save jumper cable box(the one that doesnt need another car to charge the battery) it still wouldnt start so my step father (who is a mechanic) came over to help, we hooked it back up to the jumper cables and he tryed to turn it over, nothing.... I leaned in to try and turn it over and my fuel injector manifold exploded. The plastic casing blew about 20 ft down the road and the whole top of my engine was on fire. The fire blew my manifold apart,my fuel injector is completely missing the whole part where my spark plugs are is burned and so on there is alot of damage!!! I heard from my insurance company that there is an ongoing investigation into the pontiac grand prix. I have tryed to receive any information that would help me understand why this happened. I have contacted gm personally and am having it looked at by a gm specialist(supposedly). Im just very thankful that mine nor my stepfathers face was under that hood or one of us would have been very badly injured.

2000 Pontiac Pontiac - 1G2HY54K7Y4- Cincinnati, OH: January 9th, 2007
I have a 2000 pontiac bonneville, and i have had it in the shop at least twice (maybe three) times to address the problem with the intermediate steering shaft. Now, the problem has arisen again, and i must take my time and money to repair this problem. I have just seen on line twelve (12) "technical service bulletins" reporting this problem dating 1999 through 2006. I believe that this steering shaft problem is life threatening. What can i do to ensure that this problem is taken care of and not just "greased" over as it has been in the past? *jb

2003 Pontiac Pontiac - 1G2NW52E13C- Rochester, NY: January 3rd, 2007
Gm has problems with erratic fuel sensors, and that is a safety issue for people who travel a lot and have no idea how much gas they have, or don't have in their cars. I have broke down in the middle of a snowstorm, on a busy expressway in the middle of rush hour traffic because i ran out of gas because my gas gauge was reading wrong. That was in me 1991 chevrolet lumina. The same thing is happening with my 2003 pontiac grand am. I believe that this whole thing should be recalled being that it is not covered in lemon law for new york state and a costly repair $(200-300 for the parts) and add on the $70 an hour for labor. *jb

2003 Pontiac Pontiac - 1GMDX03E93D- Oneonta, NY: April 28th, 2006
Number 2 above - our pontiac montana 2003 van has the automatic door opener on the passenger side of the car. The door slides back into place when the button is pushed. It is suppose to go back to an open position when the door touches a person or an object. Our concern is it takes all of my body weight for this door to go back. So if or when a child might get his arm or even head in between the frame and the door closing if he were starting to get out of the van it could cause serious injury since the door would not just go back as it should. Our grandson did get his fingers/hand caught in it and the button had to be pushed to release him. The manufacturer says this is normal. It is not when the chrysler vans which my niece owns has the same type set up and when you just touch her door as it's closing it goes right back open. We really are concerned with the physical damage this could cause a child. I was trying to demonstrate to some friends when we first got the van how the door would go back not knowing it would take a lot of pressure on the door for it to go back and it bruised my arm. The way this door works now we will never buy another montana unless this feature is corrected. We would definitely go to a chrysler van next. Theirs is much safer. We have 8 grandchildren and this is a major concern everytime they go with us in the car. *nm

2000 Pontiac Pontiac - 1G2JB1247Y7- Palm Springs, CA: October 11th, 2005
Purchased new 2000 pontiac sunfire in 2000. In 2001 had to have the steering shaft replaced at warranty. Have complained over the next 3 years that steering still makes clicking noise when turning. Today took back to the dealer again and was told the steering shaft again has to be replaced. I'm a 63 year old woman and do not race or abuse my car. Now i was also told the hub assembly needs to be replaced at the same time... Costs approx 900. 00. Why would these continue to break? *nm
