2001 Pontiac Aztek - 3G7DA03E61S- Suffolk, VA: February 9th, 2011
2001 pontiac aztec. Consumer states that he has some electrical safety issues with his vehicle. He has replaced the headlamp switch assembly, instrument control assembly, hva temperature control assembly, fuel pump module assembly and turn signal switch assembly. *kb the lights that illuminated the assemblies burned out and the consumer was unable to see the instrument panel at night. Due to the sending unit malfunctioning, the fuel gauge would not register the amount of fuel remaining in the tank. Because the sending unit was a part of the fuel pump assembly, the entire unit required replacement. Also, while driving at night with the headlights on, when the consumer activated the turn signal, the high beam lights would come on. Upon turning the signal off, the high beams would also turn off. *jb

2003 Pontiac Aztek - 3G7DB03E13S- Aurora, CO: July 20th, 2008
Intermittently, when in park with the engine running, the vehicle can not be shifted to any gear without turning the engine off and restarting. The inverse of this has been trying to shift in to part and the it will not go!. Turning the engine off had no effect on this condition and it had to be left in gear. Of course the lights don't go off and the vehicle had to be "chocked" and the battery disconnected. The date can be disregarded as this happens occasionally.

2003 Pontiac Aztek - 3G7DB03E23S- La Vergne, TN: June 5th, 2008
1)when i removed gas cap to fill tank with gas, i heard a hissing sound coming out of the gas tank. When trying to fill tank with gas, hose kept clicking off and would not allow me to put gas in the tank. I went to a different gas station and the same thing happened. I have since been unable to use the car as i can not fill the tank. 2)this second problem has been ongoing since i purchased this car. The "service engine soon" light keeps coming on a regular basis. I have had this checked out each time and the mechanics always have a hard time identifying the problem. This has been extremely costly. Further more, the vehicle can't pass inspection with that light on. 3) this third problem has also been ongoing. I have to replace my brakes at least twice a year. They wear down quickly and make an awful grinding noise. The mechanics cannot understand the reason for this either. Except to tell me this car is defective. 4)in the last year or so, when i make a turn in either direction, there is a grinding noise. My transmission fluid levels are always good when this happens. 5) the hatch does not open when the automatic opening button is used, must always have someone in the back to open it as i simultaneously push the button. 6)when i press the brakes to stop, it feels like the brakes disengage or the anti-lock brakes kick in and this happens when road is dry this car has been a piece of junk since the day i bought it and has caused multiple financial and emotional problems with all it's defects. I will never buy a pontiac or gm car again!!!!!!!!!!!

2005 Pontiac Aztek - 3G7DB03E25S- Petoskey, MI: March 25th, 2008
I have two 2005 pontiac awd azteks. At aprox 30,000 miles each they started to vibrate. ( september & october 2007 ) having just moved to the area i took them to fletches. The car started to vibrate mid october it has been in now 3 or 4 times nothing has been working for the fix. I then called pontiac. They agreed with the dealer that there is nothing more they can do because they don't know what is causing the vibration. I was told " don't take it back to fletches they will call me if they find out what to do". He told me he would call fletches and call me back. I still have not heard from anyone i would like my cars fixed.

2005 Pontiac Aztek - 3G7DB03E55S- Petoskey, MI: March 25th, 2008
I have two 2005 pontiac awd azteks. At aprox 30,000 miles each they started to vibrate. ( september 2007 ) having just moved to the area i took the first one to fletches. When i was called to pick up the car i was charged $50. 00 and told the "tires are unsafe ' it is a tire issue. When i purchased the car i also purchased an insurance policy from the discount tire company. I then went to discount tire to have them check the problem. They found nothing wrong with the tires , but since fletches put on my bill that the tires were unsafe they put new tires on the car for a prorated amount of $203. 20. On the way home i noticed that the car still vibrates. I went back to the dealer and asked for my money back. They gave me the $50. 00 back but not the amount for the tires. About a week or so later the other car started to vibrate ( mid october) it has been in now 3 or 4 times nothing has been working for the fix. I then called pontiac. They agreed with the dealer that there is nothing more they can do because they don't know what is causing the vibration. I was told " don't take it back to fletches they will call me if they find out what to do". I then told the pontiac rep " that i wanted my $203. 20 back for the tires " he told me he would call fletches and call me back. I just got off the phone with the pontiac rep, he spoke to bob johnson ( service manager) at fletches and he told him "they will not give me my money back because i did not buy the tires from fletches ,if i had they would refund my money. That sounds to me like they were try to take advantage of me hoping that i would have bought the tires from them, not knowing that i had the insurance policy fletches misdiagnosed the problem at the start ,i bought tires that i did not need. I would like my cars fixed and a refund for the tires i purchased.

We understand from your website that this problem is the subject of a recall. The original tank is not available.

2003 Pontiac Aztek - 3G7DB03E83S- Petoskey, MI: April 19th, 2007
We purchased this vehicle as a "gm certified vehicle" but found out later that it was not properly inspected as the brakes were bad all of the way around. The dealer took care of it, but 3 days later a loud humming started to occur when we turned the vehicle left. Upon reporting it to the dealership, they told me they could fix it for $600+. This problem has since gotten worse to the point where the humming almost drowns out your voice when you drive down the road. And if you turn left, it is so loud that it hurts your ears. Even when we turn at a slow rate of speed, say in a parking lot, it sounds like a deep hum and crunching sound on the left front and rear. The dealership says it's clutch pads, and that they are not responsible for the repairs as we reported it 3 days after we bought the aztek. Even pontiac blew us off, and offered a years worth of oil changes and lubes for our trouble..... After 5 months, we still have yet to get that certificate. I will be sure to never look at another "gm certified vehicle" again after the way we were treated. *jb

2002 Pontiac Aztek - 3G7DB03E22S- Manchester, MO: April 5th, 2007
The contact owns a 2002 pontiac aztec. While driving 5 mph the vehicle wobbled and the right front tire produced a grinding noise. The dealer stated that the right front hub bearings should be replaced, but has not made the repair. The manufacturer issued a special policy adjustment for the wheel bearings. The dealer would not replace the wheel bearings as part of the special policy adjustment because the vehicle's mileage exceeded 60,000. The current and failure mileage were 84,000. *ak the consumer stated the repair was made by dobb's auto dealer. Update 05/04/07

2003 Pontiac Aztek - 3G7DB03E63S- East Stroudsburg, PA: February 16th, 2007
Vehicle would not start one day, the start the next. Then it wouldn't start at all. Had heater problem before, but when they checked it , it was fine. Then when it wouldn't start at all, had it towed. The garage i had it towed to had been the one to check the heater a couple of weeks prior to it breaking down, they had given it an oil change also. After the tow, they informed me that anti-freeze had been getting into the intake oil(head gaskets),and they would have to take it all apart(labor!!! )---and that the fuel pump was bad. I've only had the vehicle for a little over a year!!! Thank god i had a warranty extended,(even though i am paying a lot for that also!! )that i only(! ) had to pay the 100. 00 deductible, but then had to pay for filters, oil(again!! ) and miscellaneous other expenses the warranty didn't pay!! Altogether, with what the warranty paid, and what i paid (341. 00)---it came to 2,200. 00!!! ---now this car is only 4 years old, barely!!! And i think that this is ridiculous!!! *jb

2004 Pontiac Aztek - 3G7DA03E04S- Homer Glen, IL: November 14th, 2006
On april 17, 2006, i brought my 2004 aztek in to the pontiac dealer because there was a loud grinding noise and vibration coming from under the front passenger side of my vehicle. I was told that the front right wheel bearing was failing, and that it had to be replaced. Since it was just out of warranty, at 63,031 miles, i paid for this repair. Then, on september 13, 2006, i heard the same noise and vibration coming from the front drivers side of my vehicle. I brought my vehicle into the dealership again, and paid to have the front left wheel bearing replaced. There is a recall notice out on this failure, if the vehicle is under 60,000 miles and 5 years of service. I did not see this recall notice on your website. I believe these failures could have potential severe consequences, and gm should reimburse me for the necessary repairs. *nm
