The contact stated that the vehicle had (nhtsa campaign id number 09v073000 power train: automatic transmission: lever and linkage: column shift) performed, however the remedy failed to repair the problem. The contact mentioned that when the transmission was shift to reverse and park the vehicle moved forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnose that the shift cable gear selector was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Tl- the contact owns a 2007 pontiac grand prix. The contact was driving 10 mph when the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but no failure was found during the diagnostic check. The failure recurred four more times. Each time the vehicle was taken to the dealer but each time, the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. On the above date and time i was driving and a police officer pulled me over and told me that my brakes were coming on when i was driving but when i was stopping they went off i have brought it into the dealer to be fixed several times and they are not fixing it they are calibrating the brakes and putting a bandaid on it lasts for about 3 weeks then right back to the way it was i have called pontiac and they just keep telling us to bring it in i went online and there have been numerous complaints on this car i understand they are from 2005-07 that the issues are occurring according to the information i read on the problem. Here is the nhtsa action number for you to reference with pe08054. They have recalled the 05's but the problem still exists in their later models. It has not been recalled and believe this issue should be addressed they know its a malfunction and they should be responsible instead of nickeling and dimming their customers just to not get the problem solved. Low beam sockets would get extremely hot and ended up warping the original socket had to replace new head light sockets and went thru about 8 headlight atleast until new headlight sockets were replaced ## vin failed ## pontiac g6 gt 2007 ##

Air bag fault occurred and displayed in two places on my dash when i started my car to go to work. I had not driven this car in a month and just a few weeks prior to the last time it was driven i had another airbag recall performed. Took car to the dealership to find out the passenger sensor module had a short circuit in it. Unknown to me all the vehicle airbags were disabled with this fault per the service tech. It seems terrible unsafe to disable all airbags for a passenger sensing module. It should fail active rather than fail passive for safety. I have also found numerous reports of this module failing near the time of warranty expiration not necessarily after. Though mine was after by date not mileage.

The contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and was told that there was a leak coming from the seals of the fuel tank. The vehicle had not been to the dealer. While driving, cruise control will disengage and brake lights will flair on. Than when tap brakes, brake lights will shut off. Within a couple seconds, they will turn back on. When actually going to press on the brakes, have no brake lights than. This has also happened without using cruise control, just driving in general. Break lights will come on, than when press on the brake, they shut off. Couple seconds later, come back on. This is a huge safety issue while driving at night time(or during the daytime), not having brake lights when stopping. Do not feel safe driving with my children in the car. T=6657 is a forum/thread of various g6 owners complaining about this issue and also believes they have come up with what the problem is. From what it sounds like, its a connector with the bcm (body control module) and it developing corrosion.

The contact also stated that the rear defroster no longer functioned. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was advised that the rear windshield could be replaced at low cost. The contact was also advised that the front windshield was a manufacturer┐s defect. In addition, the contact stated that the shifter cable had to be replaced and the cruise control did not engage. The cruise control was not repaired because the diagnostic test was unable to locate a failure code. Neither windshield was replaced. The manufacturer denied assistance with the repairs. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.

The brake pedal suddenly fell to the floor while i was trying to brake the car for a red light at 40 mph with other traffic directly in front of me. The brake line traveling along the bottom of the car had rusted through due to corrosion causing the brakes to fail. In addition, all of the fuel lines which carry fuel at high pressure at approx. 48psi are also badly corroded and likely to fail with catastrophic results (e. G. , fire, explosion, etc. ). These brake and fuel line safety defects stem from the fact that general motors used inferior brake and fuel line parts (e. G. , ordinary rust prone steel) instead of slightly costlier stainless steel piping for brake and fuel lines. In addition, the automatic transmission oil cooler lines are also badly corroding due to gm using ordinary steel instead of stainless steel for these lines. Now, i have to have all of these brake and fuel lines replace due to gm using inferior rust-prone steel parts instead of slightly more costly corrosion resistant stainless steel brake and fuel pipe lines. This is a serious safety issue since corrosion of brake, fuel, and automatic transmission pipe lines could result in loss of vehicle control resulting in loss of life and property damage.

Service air bag light came on when idling, parked, in driveway. Taken to local gm dealer in cleveland, tn. Dealer did not specify repair. Roughly 20,000miles later the service air bag light is back on. What can we do to make gm fix this very common problem?

2009 pontiac g6 gt 3. 5l v6 - on 09/23/11 when i put my car into park, the transmission was still in drive position. The shifter handle was loose and would not lock into p, r, n, d. Turned off the engine and could remove keys but when i tried to crank the car again it wouldn't crank. Had the car towed to a local dealer and they told me that the shifter cable was broken. Had the cable replaced along with a new bracket. On 07/24/12 (83600 miles) i am having the same problem again!! I called the same dealer and he told me that there is a 12 month or 12000 mile warranty on parts and labor but unfortunately i had already driven 22000 miles in the last 10 months. Dealer said they could check my car on diagnostics to tell me what could be causing the problem for $90 per hour. I can't afford to pay for them to tell me just what is causing the problem. I searched 2009 recalls and found one for my car, saying that the shifter cable clip may not be in place and that it could cause the vehicle transmission to be in drive while the shifter is in park. Sometimes my shifter had a little difficulty to get out of park position, like it was locked up. So what in the world is causing my shifter cable to break twice in a 10 month period?? Is anyone else having the same problem as me??

Could smell gasoline fumes on outside of vehicle after use. After checking online, found out others had a problem with the fuel pump outlet cracking. Removed the tank and found the discharge fitting on the fuel pump was cracked. I cannot believe something as serious as this has not been addressed with a recall. When i touch the discharge line the outlet fitting completely broke off. This is an extreme fire hazard.

There are times when i go to start the car and nothing happens, all light work fine just don't start. The security light flashes and you wait 10 mins and then the car starts. I had the sensor replaced and now a year later the same problem. I have done lots of research online and this is a huge problem and gm never owned up to by doing a recall. This affects pontiac, oldsmobile and several others. I think they need to step up here and come up with a solution to what is their problem. Thanks
