1992 Mitsubishi Expo Lrv - JA3CV30D3NZ- Los Angeles, CA: August 29th, 2012
Driver's seat belt rail assembly broke. I took it to several mechanics. Glendale, ca dealer said the parts are obsolete. C & c collision in pasadena on 8/23/2012 was able to make it safe by disengaging the cable/motor mechanism. Thank you, nhtsa, for contacting mitsubishi on my behalf, to get it repaired properly. She has a 1992 mitsubishi xlr van. The motor assembly which drives the passive shoulder harness along the track is broken. I have searched.... Parts store, junk yard, etc. To find her a replacement. She cannot trade the van in because 1, she doesn't have the money,and 2 it is so customized that it could never really be replaced.... I know mitsubishi is not required to keep these parts this long, but i.... Wondered if nhtsa had methods of getting manufacturers to help her. Now, her only resolution, is to leave the belt at the "b" pillar so she is at least protected by it, but getting in and out of her van is very difficult. If there is anything you can do.... 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander - JA4LZ31FX5U- Frenchburg, KY: August 29th, 2012
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 mitsubishi outlander. The contact stated that the vehicle lose acceleration power and would not accelerate over 15mph, and the engine light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic a diagnostic was performed that located the failure at the accelerator pedal position sensor. The local mechanic place a manifold absolute pressure sensor to the engine however the engine light remained illuminated. The acceleration failure was not repaired. 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander - JA4MT41X39Z- Saginaw , MN: August 20th, 2012
The contact owns a 2009 mitsubishi outlander. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, she hear a loud noise coming from the vehicle and then the sun roof glass fractured. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 47,000 and the current mileage was 48,236.


2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse - 4A3AK24F96E- San Antonio, TX: August 3rd, 2012
The contact owns a 2006 mitsubishi eclipse. The contact was driving 45 mph and applied the brakes but the vehicle would not respond. The contact had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor a repair shop for inspection. The failure recurred several times. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer prior to the most recent failure and was advised that there were no failures within the vehicle. The brakes were replaced three times prior and the master cylinder was also replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of failure however no further assistance was provided. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 05v247000 (service brakes, hydraulic) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall campaign. The approximate current and failure mileage was 99,400.


2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Raliart - JA32V6FV8AU- Las Vegas, NV: July 23rd, 2012
The contact owns a 2010 mitsubishi lancer. The contact stated that a smell of fuel emitted through the vents after driving for approximately twenty minutes. The smell became more profound when the air conditioner was turned on. The contact stated that the failure only occurred when the weather was warm. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 43,000.


2006 Mitsubishi Raider - 127HC28K87S- Garden Grove, CA: July 22nd, 2012
1. The car stop engine suddenly on the freeway 5 south near culver exit. 2. It stopped garden grove blvd and eculid st in garden grove city ca about few month later when i tried to make left turn, the engine stopped. 3. It stop again on 22 fwy. 4. One more stopped near 55 fwy and dyer ave, engine totally stopped, but i could start and drive after these incidents. The other problem is the ignition blocked turn the engine start. The key doesn't move so frequently. My car mileage is just over 50,000 miles. What is the problem? I purchased this used car from union auto in garden grove the mileage was about 16,000 mile.


2010 Mitsubishi Lancer - JA32Y6HV9AU- Commerce City, CO: July 21st, 2012
While driving home in 100 degree weather with a 3/4 full gas tank there was suddenly a strong fuel smell coming from the front air conditioning vents. The a/c system was in recirculate mode. The smell was so strong that i started to get dizzy. I opened all the windows and pulled over at my first chance to look for a leak. I did not find any leaks in the engine bay or underneath the car. I was almost home so i started the car to proceeded home. While driving i smelled the gas fumes again, this time i turn the a/c system to fresh air and the smell went away. I then turned the system between fresh and recirculate several times and the small was always on the recirculate side. I believe there is something venting into the cabin of the car but i can not find it. This is a serious safety issues as someone could become dizzy or faint from the fumes and crash.


1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse - 4A3CT64U8ME- Anchorage , AK: July 20th, 2012
The contact owns a 1991 mitsubishi eclipse. The contact stated that while driving 68 mph, he heard a loud noise. He pulled over on the side of the road when he noticed smoke coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The dealer advised that they needed to have the transfer case and the transmission replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised the contact that the recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 98v069001 (power train) was closed and there was nothing they could do to assist the contact. The failure mileage was 180,000 and the current mileage was 253,000.


2008 Mitsubishi Outlander - JA4LS21W28Z- San Antonio, TX: July 13th, 2012
This vehicle was recalled in 2009 for a failure of the switch which activates the brake lamps. Mitsubishi records indicate that we had the switch replaced in march, 2009, along with another recall item. However, throughout the first half of 2011, my wife and i had problems getting the car to come out of 'park', and with the traction control computer indicating malfunctions. On the way to the dealership to have those issues investigated, i followed the vehicle, and noticed that most of the time, the brake lights did not activate when the brakes were applied. The dealership discovered that all three problems were caused by malfunctions of the brake lamp switch, and replaced it. To our knowledge, it has worked correctly since then. However, i am extremely concerned about the failure of the switch. After all, that's a fundamental part of a major safety system, and recall service had been performed which was supposed to prevent that very same premature failure. It is my opinion that an important safety component such as the brake lamp system should not suffer a failure after 3. 5 years of service and 60,000 miles. I'm doubly confident that failure should not have occurred after the scrutiny your organization has already applied to this issue.


2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor - 4A4MM41S84E- Savannah, GA: July 12th, 2012
The contact owned a 2004 mitsubishi endeavor. The contact stated that while stopped at an intersection, a heavy truck crashed into the front passenger side of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belt did not hold the contact in place. The contact stated that the vehicle was destroyed and she suffered injuries to her head, neck and other parts of her body. There was a police report if needed. The manufacturer was notified and advised her to contact the insurance company. The failure mileage was 104,073.


2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - JA4LS21H21P- Dallas, TX: July 10th, 2012
The contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi montero sport. The contact stated that while driving, he attempted to sound the horn but it would not function. The vehicle also stalled. The brake warning light, srs air bag warning light, and check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact had to jumpstart the vehicle in order to begin driving. As the contact began driving, the horn began to sound nonstop until the vehicle stalled again. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic, who diagnosed an electrical failure. The contact did not know exact failure. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo - JA3AW56V58U- Saint Charles, MO: July 9th, 2012
At 72,000 miles i was experiencing issues that had to do with the idling of my car. At stoplights it would die unexpectedly and/or just idle extremely rough as the rpm's would lower. I took it in to get it repaired and it was diagnosed (by mitsubishi) as a timing belt that was stretched. I looked online an found scores of 2008 evo's who have experienced similar issues right around the same timeframe (around 70k miles). Clearly this is a common issue, yet out of warranty by 10k. I also looked online to see if they had yet to modify the replacement timing chain and mitsubishi had manufactured a new timing chain that doesn't have the certain defects as of january 2012. Should this not be a recall item considering that so many of us are experiencing the same issue? Especially considering that a replacement chain had been made to correct these things?

2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor - 4A4MN21SX4E- Plainfield, IL: June 29th, 2012
Bought this 2004 mitsubishi endeavor used with 64k miles in january. Started using the air this summer and noticed driver's side floor is soaking wet after each use. Found online that multiple people are having this same issue. Called the dealership and they confirmed that mitsubishi is aware of it and have put together a fix between $220-$350 but there is no re-call. I was told the problem is a failed seal in the a/c unit. Also, had to have the egr sensor replaced twice. Called mitsubishi and they said nothing they can do because the car is out of warranty. It ran $400-$500 each time at the dealership.


2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor - 4A4MM41S24E- Arizona City, AZ: June 20th, 2012
The contact owns a 2004 mitsubishi endeavor. The contact stated that the front and rear passenger side window regulators failed upon activation. The malfunction caused the window glass to release down into the door panel. The failure recurred on separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to an auto glass specialty shop each time for the window regulator replacement. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.


2010 Mitsubishi Outlander - JA4AT2AW1AZ- Beach Park, IL: June 11th, 2012
Hi, when you have the a/c on max and your head lights on the lights dim every time the a/c compressor kick on and stays dim until the compressor kicks off. I took it to the dealer they said the battery was bad and replaced it. The problem was still there they had me bring it back in and they kept it for seven hour and called me to come pick it up they found nothing wrong. They said there was no dimming and the alternator is putting out fine with everything turned on. I still have the problem and when going down the road depending on how much the compressor is kick it looks like you are flashing your lights at the car ahead of you. If you go on mitsubishi forum web site this has been a problem from 2003 to 2011 and people are being lied to by the dealers. I have been told by other machines that the alternators are to small and being stressed and will fail. I have a lot of traveling to do starting next month to other states i need this fixed. I worry about being behind a police officer with my lights flickering.


2011 Mitsubishi Lancer - 6547673/654- Marietta, GA: June 4th, 2012
Rented from hotwire at san juan airport. Car rental was hertz. While reversing from parking spot at hertz lot, roaches came out of dashboard. I stopped at the office to change car. Agents were not concerned. I asked for another car without the bugs and it took some time to get another car. I inspected it and didn't find any. I drove off. The next morning i drove to ponce and back that night. Drove up & down a steep mountain side. When i parked that night roaches came out of that car too. Called several numbers, was freaked out, and no one seemed concerned. My dad sprayed the car that night, cleaned it up and the next morning we drove back to hertz to get a new car. My concern was that if those bugs would have come out while i drove the mountainside, i probably would have killed myself if they did come out and crawled on me. Im familiar with the roads but for the tourist that rent cars there it is definitely a safety issue and something has to be done.


2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse - 4A37L5EF0BE- Billerica, MA: June 1st, 2012
The contact owns a 2011 mitsubishi eclipse. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the passenger side air bag deployed independently and shattered the front passenger side window. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing and the dealer refused to inspect the, stating that the failure was an insurance issue.
