2008 Lexus Rx350 - 2T2GK31U18C- San Diego, CA: August 14th, 2012
At 65,000 miles vehicle had a major breakdown. Serpentine belt ruptured causing fire and smoke inside the engine compartment and both inside the cabin and outside. Gas pedal became inoperative and vehicle had to be towed to a repair facility. As further determined the cause of the belt rupture is the a/c compressor freezing stuck. Repair is extremely costly. Parts alone are close to $1500. Lexus is not willing to help in any way and all of the maintenance per the maintenance booklet is performed and on time. Additionally the maintenance booklet does not require any work other than filters, oil changes until 100,000 at which time only spark plugs are mostly due to be replaced. A/c compressor should not have gone out at 65,000 miles on a 2008 lexus.

2010 Lexus Gx - JTJBM7FX8A5- Amawalk, NY: August 13th, 2012
After feeling that my brakes hadn't worked properly at a stop light (i almost skid through it), i was traveling about 35 mph around a curve and lightly pressed on the brakes to make sure i would slow down. Unbelievably, my brakes completely failed and i actually believe i sped up while at the same time my steering went out of control. I was unable to control or stop the car. After a few seconds i was able to pull off to the right and mud slowed me down enough to come to a stop. It was a truly petrifying experience and the tow truck driver confirmed that my brakes were completely non-functioning when he had to use the emergency brake to get my car on his truck. Lexus claimed that they could find nothing wrong with the car, however, which i find to be extremely disturbing. I pray that they do not attempt to resell or lease this car.

2011 Lexus Rx350 - 2T2ZK1BA4BC- Orlando, FL: August 13th, 2012
Turned into parking space. Car began accelerating on its own. I applied the brakes continuously, threw the car into park to no avail. The car jolted forward, crashing into the storefront, breaking glass windows. The (approx) 2 feet of block wall stopped the car. The vehicle was not in my control in spite of all effort to bring the car to a stop. Had someone been walking on the sidewalk in front of the store (salon), i would have been powerless to keep from injuring or killing them. This was not driver error. I was fully "in the moment," and aware of what was happening.

2006 Lexus Is350 - JTHBE262465- Tampa, FL: July 27th, 2012
I have michelin pilot sport a/s 225/40 zr dot number 4mcr 002x 4310 on my 2006 lexus is 350. I had the first set installed in april 2, 2009 at 24k miles as replacement to my original tires. By april 09 2011 i had to get the tires replace because of chunking, large chunks had come off at either side of the center line. I have the same tires in the back albeit slightly wider with no problems, feb. 09, 2011 at 47k miles the tires were replaced with the same brand and model for asthetic purposes and performance behavior on. At 57k miles march 2012 i noticed the tires exhibiting the same chunking. I went to costco were i purchased the tires and i was told that michelin says it is common and does not affect the performance of the tire, the chunks depth are over a 1/4 of an inch deep almost to the belt. This is an accident waiting to happen.

2005 Lexus Rx330 - 2T2H31U55C0- Pittsburgh, PA: July 23rd, 2012
Our lexus had a bad roller bearing on the rear passenger's wheel. The internet (lexus owners club) tells us that many other owners with this model have had the same problem in the same location. It is dangerous because the wheel can suddenly seize or fly off, causing loss of control. I hope you will require lexus to recall and fix the cars that haven't failed yet, and to reimburse those who have had to have it fixed already.

2011 Lexus Es - JTHBK1EG1B2- Miami, FL: July 17th, 2012
At approximately 7:23 pm on july 8, 2012, while parking in the parking lot of our local church, the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. The car was almost at a complete stop, when this sudden uncontrolled acceleration occurred. At that time lots of people were exiting the church and walking towards the parking lot to get into their cars, while others were inside and outside their vehicles waiting for the next service to start. I was terrified since as hard as i pushed the brake pedal, my car continued accelerating ; it ran over the concrete parking bump, hit an electrical installation, and came to a complete stop when it hit a parked suv on the opposite side of the parking lot. The front section of my car was completely destroyed to the point where it was not drivable. I towed the vehicle to my house and later to the lexus dealership for an inspection. An inspector from lexus corporation inspected it on july 17, 2012. He called me the same day to let me know that the inspection was completed, however he would not disclose any inspection results, due to lexus policy. I am still awaiting a formal response from lexus.

2008 Lexus Gs350 - JTHBE96S980- La Habra, CA: July 9th, 2012
I have had my lexus for since 7/2009 in nov 2010 and feb 2011 i have had to pay for several wheel alignments (frt and back) by the dealership in cerritos, ca. . I have had my tire replaced approximately 3 times and rotated them regularly. Oakhama tire that came with the vehicle are very expensive and have now decided to go with bridestone tire to lower my expenses. I do drive alot but do not drive freeway on a daily basis to and from work, but do drive freeway in many occasions. . The suspension continues to pull to the rt and tires continue to wear in the inside, both times to the wire. And now again after driving to laughlin on 7/3/12--7//7/12 i noticed when i returned the far inside of my tires were worn to the metal treads again. I am replacing all for tires on 7/12/12 and need another alignments in the frt and the back. It just is not seem right that brakes and suspensions are continues maintenance issue on a yearly basics. I am a middle aged grandma and have my grandkids in my car all the time and maintain my vehicle per manufacture requirements. Brakes have been replaced 4 times frt and back..

I was stopped at a red light. The car felt like it jumped / accelerated from nowhere, and i collided with the vehicle in front of me in a rear-end collision. Damaged caused to my entire front end and the other vehicles back end. Impact speed is unknown but it felt like 5-10mph and definitely not a roll-hit or a bump of a hit. I was stopped and then the vehicle just accelerated into the car ahead of me. *js

2012 Lexus Rx350 - JTJZK1BA1C2- Bakersfield, CA: June 30th, 2012
On 6/25/2012- at 7:10 am, i was pulling into the parking spot for my vehicle in my hospital parking lot for a scheduled surgical case, where i work as an ob/gyn physician/surgeon. As i turned to the parking spot at the usual, approximately 2-4 miles /hr speed ( the speed at which normally one parks the car), i noticed that my accelerator pedal did not bounce back to its original position as it normally should or would. Then my rt foot was on the brakes to just stop the vehicle in my parking spot. Then just instantly the vehicle had increased speed and before i could stop the vehicle, it ran forward uncontrollably and climbed up the cement pathway and hit the tree just in front of that parking spot. I was pressing on the brakes and it did not stop the engine raving and i stopped the engine by turning it off. The front of the car is severely damaged including bent frame and the engine is pushed inside according to the body shop. I felt i had no control of the vehicle and it ran on its own. It was the scariest feeling. Imagine the damage and casualty it could have caused if it happened at the signal crossing.

2005 Lexus Rx330 - JTJGA31U050- Hacienda Heights , CA: June 20th, 2012
My 2005 lexus rx 330 with only 39459 mileage was told the water pump is leaks, when i replaced the battery at independent shop. When for a recall (engine crankshaft pulley) done by dealer that couple month ago on mileage 39152, dealer also performed multi point inspection did not spot any water pump leaks. However, i brought car back to dealer to diagnostic, inspected states that for possible coolant leaks - water pump timing belt package cost $1,995. 00 for replacement. That is outrageous, i could not believe that the water pump is failing at the car only has under 40k miles. This is a very serious issue for safety as an engine with failed water pump might be cause a very serious damages and injury when driving. In this case hereby, i'm sending this compliant to nhtsa, i hope odi office would start to investigation for this issue. Lexus should make recall for this low quality parts instead of put other peoples life in dangers when driving. To emphasize that i have found out on your website there are same complaints for failed water pump as well. And i believe that there are lots of car owner have same problems just were not aware of where they could make complaints. Thank you so much for your attention in this matter. *js

2011 Lexus Es - JTHBK1EG6B2- Redwood City, CA: June 4th, 2012
At approximately 6:30pm, while making a right hand turn into a friends driveway, the vehicle suddenly accelerated on it's own, and the brakes would not work. The vehicle continued to the right as if locked in to the right hand position, hit a tree and finally came to a stop by hitting high concrete steps. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, and later to the body shop as the vehicle was not drivable. During the interim, the vehicle was inspected by toyota. Post investigation, the letter recently received from toyota states "during the limited test drive accelerating and braking tests were conducted and the vehicle performed with no abnormalities found". The vehicle was not drivable per the mechanic at the dealership and the mechanic at the body shop, due to the significant damage and fluid leakage. This letter from toyota's investigation is incongruent with the facts as i know them. As of this date, june 3, 2012, the vehicle is still being worked on.
