2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport - 4S2CK570224- Nashville, TN: August 9th, 2012
I received a safety recall for my vehicle saying that "excessive corrosion may result in the left or right rear suspension lower link bracket becoming detached from the frame, which can affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash. " upon checking into this, i found out that the closest isuzu dealer to me is 2 hours away. It really amazes me that isuzu would want me to drive a vehicle with a safety recall 2 hours to have it checked out.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo Sport - 4S2CM57W114- Falmouth, MA: July 11th, 2012
I had a mechanic look at my truck because of an exhaust leak, while inspecting, he found a break/separation of the right frame where the forward mounting rear suspension bracket attaches. The left side of the frame is also rotted but not yet broken. I took it to an isuzu dealer in massachusetts, & they took pictures of the problem, then reported it to isuzu. I called isuzu's (800) help line to ask what they could do to repair my truck, they said nothing, they were not recalling that particular truck model but took my information.

She was able to pull over to the side of the road safely. She was then able to restart the car and drive it 1-mile home. The insurance company inspected the car and claims it is a mechanical error. The car is at the dealer and we are waiting to hear from isuzu. *jb

2006 Isuzu Ascender - 4NUES16M566- Wauwatosa, WI: May 23rd, 2012
This vehicle is a rebadged gmc envoy/chevy trailblazer and like many of these vehicles, the fuel level sensor (fuel level sender) no longer works. Other vehicles using this platform (called 360) are the buick ranier, saab 9-7x, and oldsmobile bravado. Gm sold its interest in isuzu and no longer seems to accept any responsibility for the vehicles it manufactured, in fact, the closest isuzu service center is 80 miles away. All of the other vehicles in this platform have a service bulletin out where gm will agree to pay one-half the expense (done at one of their dealerships) of replacing the fuel level sensor. It is my understanding they are not offering to do so on the isuzu ascender. Since my fuel gauge does not work, i carefully track my mileage since my last fill-up to ensure i do not run out of fuel. Although i should have had more than one-half of a tank of gasoline, i was traveling through one of the busiest intersections in the metro-milwaukee area (mayfair road and north avenue) and when i stepped on the gas to accelerate, then engine quit. Fortunately i avoided an accident and had enough velocity to make it through the intersection and and was able to maneuver my way off of the state highway. The only explanation i can deduce for being out of fuel is that during the last fill-up, i was pumping using the auto switch on the gas nozzle which turns off automatically when the tank is full. Perhaps the switch turned off, not because of being full of fuel, but because the vapors triggered it. I am much more careful at this point, but it clearly could be a very dangerous situation if one does not carefully monitor their fuel use. *tt

2007 Isuzu I-290 - 1GGCS199178- St. Martinville, LA: May 2nd, 2012
I took my 2007 isuzu i-290 truck into dealer back in dec. Of 2010 because the reduce power light came on and was only able to drive about 15 miles/hr. While driving or idling the engine would just kill. Still under warranty with approx 68,000 miles, i took it into the dealer for repairs, all they did was change the camshaft actuator. 5 months later, i started experiencing the same issues. Diagnostic readings came back that sensors needed changing. I replaced both sensors but it did not resolve the problem and eventually the engine killed and would not restart. I returned to the dealership in late aug. /early sept. 2011 and was told that there were shavings in the engine and would need to be replaced, at my expense. I tried calling the isuzu motors owners relations line and after being on hold for what seemed like forever, all they would do is refer me to a dealer in my area. Also, i filed a claim with the auto bbb who rejected my claim because of the mileage. Which is confusing because the power train warranty was still active when i went in oct. Of 2010. The vehicle was only 3yrs old. I had a new engine put in and just picked up the truck on saturday april 28, 2012. On april 30th, while driving, the check engine light started blinking and the power reduced to 15 miles again and then the truck stalled. The next day the dealer called and said that they are getting at least 15 different diagnostic codes but they all seem to point to the camshaft cranks. Same problem, new engine!!!! *js

1999 Isuzu Amigo - 4S2CM57W6X4- Greenville, MI: April 26th, 2012
Contact was driving down a side road at 20mph when the contact heard a loud clunk and immediately lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle spun out of control and onto a curb where once stopped they were able to drive it into a parking lot but only in four wheel drive. Once inspected, it was determined that the rear part of the frame was so badly rusted that the rear driver side trailing arm and mount broke off the frame causing the rear axle to shift back in forth uncontrollably. When taken to a frame repair shop and state certified welder the frame and mounts were deemed beyond repairable and the vehicle completely unsafe to drive. Upon further inspection the rear frame was rusting out so bad that it was that it was no longer structurally sound. This is the same issue that isuzu recalled the 98-2002 rodeos in which were stationed in the nations salt belt. Many other owners are also having this same issue with the amigo's. This needs to be investigated as these vehicles in the salt belt are not safe to drive.

2004 Isuzu Rodeo - 4S2DM58Y544- Louisa, VA: February 14th, 2012
Cup of coffee was in cup holder. Was spilled accidentally onto console. Appears all the electrical modules are under the cup holder with no protective cover. Caused transmission controller module to short circuit. Check 4 wd light. 4l kept flashing, abs light and check engine light all stayed on. Vehicle didn't want to run at first. After he stayed running sounded as if a fire engine siren was behind me winding down. No fire truck..... Appears it was the 4wd. Appears that a cup holder should not be placed where there are electrical components, especially if those components have no protection from liquid if spilled in that area.
