Latest Honda Accord Problem Reports

2004 Honda Accord - 1H278GCM674- Elkins Park, PA: August 29th, 2012
My car started bucking about two weeks after i had it inspected in july. Also the drive light was blinking and the check maintenance light came on. At one point i was alone and far from home and the car would not go into reverse. I contacted a mechanic i know well who told me there was a safety issue and that i should try to drive the car to the transmission place he recommended. For several miles the car bucked and i wasn't sure whether i would get there or not, but i did. Very scary. Not sure this sure happen with a car that only has 76,500 miles on it and i am the only owner.

2001 Honda Accord - JHMCG66001C- Snohomish, WA: August 27th, 2012
In 2006 honda issued an extended warranty on the transmission due to the many complaints/failures. Shortly thereafter we started experiencing slipping/missing gears and took it to klein honda in everett where we purchased it. They ran the diagnostic and told us that it wasn't bad enough to warrant a replacement. Since then it has slowly gotten worse to the point where it is becoming a safety issue because we never really know if it is going to catch and actually go or when it will just decide to stall. Now of course it is past the extended warranty and the dealer refuses to fix it.

2012 Honda Accord - 1HGCS1B33CA- Pittsburgh, PA: August 27th, 2012
I noticed noise, wheel vibrations and steering problems. The honda service department said that i had a bad wheel bearing on the left side and replaced it. After i received the car back from the shop, i noticed the car was pulling to the left, wheel vibrations, loose steering wheel and making noise. The car did not shift between gears properly and fluctuated between rpms randomly (even when at idle). I took it back to the honda service department. This time they reset the computer in the car and performed idle relearn procedure; adjusted the toe on all four wheels. They also found that the rear rotors were out of round and "machine rear brake rotors" but reused the brake pads. I do not feel safe in this vehicle. I have scheduled another service appointment for 8/28. However, i am still having the idle rpm, shifting problems, wheel vibration issues, steering problems, noise issues as well as several other problems. This manufacture should be forced to issue a recall.

2012 Honda Accord - 1HGCP2F78CA- Alabaster, AL: August 22nd, 2012
The front seats are so uncomfortable you cant go over 15 miles without being in pain. Something has got to be wrong with the design on the lumbar support.

1999 Honda Accord - 1HGCG3240XA- Huntsville, AL: August 21st, 2012
The contact owns a 1999 honda accord. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred at different speeds intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the ignition switch would have to be replaced. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 02v120000 (electrical system:ignition:switch) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

2008 Honda Accord - 1HGCS12348A- Greenwood, IN: August 19th, 2012
I bought my 2008 accord used with 32k on it. Honda had a great record with reliability and quality in the past so this car, i figured, would be no different. After about a month of ownership, i noticed the oil was low. I checked the oil when i bought the car and it was full, and it was now down about a half a quart. I took my car to the honda dealership and told them about the oil consumption. They topped me off, and put me on an oil consumption test. Interestingly enough, there was an oil consumption recall on my car about a month later. The dealership updated the software to prevent oil consumption and i was sent on my way. About a month later, my car was still consuming oil at about a quart per 2290miles. That was the official honda tally at the end of my oil consumption test. I contacted honda through written letter and phone call saying that their recall/software update did not work and that my car was still consuming oil. American honda was unable to provide me with any documentation about what acceptable oil consumption on a car was, but in their words it was 1qt/1000 miles. No where in the bill of sale or owners manual does it say the owner will have to add oil during regular driving to keep the oil at acceptable levels. Talking with both american honda and dealerships as well, they refuse to fix the problem and they are unable to provide any proof that consuming oil at this rate will not harm the car. I am currently adding about 1qt/1500miles to keep my car from running out of oil, and under the 5year 60k warranty, honda still has not fixed the problem. I have all of my receipts of repairs and routine maintenance from the dealership along with dated phone conversations to honda reps including case numbers. People need to know honda's malicious and greedy intent not to honor its warranty and fix its cars. Mine still has yet to be fixed.

2012 Honda Accord - 1HGCP2FBBCA- Macon, GA: August 18th, 2012
The driver's seat is incredibly uncomfortable to the point of not being able to sit still for more than a 20minute drive. This is a safety issue, and one that i've never had in my 2 current honda vehicles. The lumbar support bar protrudes into your back not allowing you to sit properly into the seat and causing extreme discomfort after 20mins of casual driving.

2012 Honda Accord - 1HGCP2F89CA- Dartmouth , MA: August 17th, 2012
Seats are very uncomfortable. Excessive pressure from the seats lumbar area. They cause back, leg and hip pain. This was not noticed on the 10 minute test drive. Becomes unbearable after 20 minutes of driving. The pain is distracting, constantly adjusting the seat looking for a position to easy the pain. Honda has been contacted and has not offered a solution.

1991 Honda Accord - 1HGCB7561MA- Minneapolis, MN: August 16th, 2012
The automatic seatbelt has gone forward and will not retract obstructing the steering wheel, and is just generally unsafe... This is supposed to be covered by a lifetime honda warranty but they refuse to honor it.

2002 Honda Accord - 1HGCCG16532- Cedarburg, WI: August 16th, 2012

2012 Honda Accord - 1HGCP2E33CA- Bell, CA: August 13th, 2012
While driving 65 mph the rear passenger tire blew up. It was an experience never felt before. I felt safe driving this car until now. I took the vehicle for inspection at the dealership and they were no help. When i told them about the tire, it seem that they already knew how it happened. Immediately the manager came to check under the tire and within 30 seconds of inspection said they were not able to replace the tire because it was caused by a puncture. The manager said there is a break cable right above the tire and that is what caused the tire to rupture. Then offered to check the vehicle just in case but knew he knew they were not covering the tire. He offered me to only pay for the tire but will not charge for installation. Need help!!!

2012 Honda Accord - 1HGCP2F38CA- Mebane, NC: August 13th, 2012
I am into my first year of leasing this new vehicle. I have brought it to the dealer for repairs 3 times. It has been confirmed by the dealer/shop that the vehicle has a "definite shimmy" shaking of steering wheel at highway speed. ( 60-65 ). They have done all the necessary steps to repair this problem and nothing has worked. I have called honda mfg and filed a report as well. I was told by the mfg, they would look into this problem. I was also told by a honda rep. That it may be a "characteristic" of some accords. I feel as a consumer this would be unsafe to drive. I don not feel safe driving this vehicle. Also, the a/c has been worked on 3 times as well, and still not working properly. Why can't the dealer authorize a replacement when it has been confirmed? Why would the dealer even let me leave lot knowing it has a definite problem? Shouldn't safety come first for all?

2001 Honda Accord - 1HGCG22491A- Monroe, LA: August 12th, 2012
I purchased this vehicle new in november 2001. I noticed that the transmission would not shift correctly from 1st to 2nd and read some complaints from other owners with the same problem. I took the vehicle to the local honda dealer for inspection and was told there was nothing to worry about. The problem has persisted since and has gotten worse as it gets older. Please advise of any kind of recourse i may have should a transmission replacement be necessary. I did have one solenoid on the transmission replaced a year or so ago as well as a motor mount.

1999 Honda Accord - 1HGCG3250XA- Roswell, GA: August 9th, 2012
While coming to a stop at a stop sign the car shut itself off, but restarted, all the electronics were not affected. A second event happened two weeks later while the car was being driven at 65mph, power steering, and power brakes were affected.

2012 Honda Accord - 1HGCS1B83CA- Waycross, GA: August 6th, 2012
The front seats create increased lower back pressure that does not allow a proper driving position; you cannot drive comfortably for more than 30 minutes at a time.

1997 Honda Accord - JHMCD5633VC- Algonquin , IL: August 5th, 2012

2012 Honda Accord - 5J6TF1H38CL- Kerrville, TX: August 2nd, 2012

2012 Honda Accord - 1HGCP2F81CA- Hurt, VA: July 31st, 2012
Purchased new 2012 honda accord i noticed on my way home from dealer that at 60 to 66 mph the steering wheel shakes and shimmys also the vehicle pulls hard to the left regardless of the road crown. The dealer has balanced and roadforced balanced the tires rotated the tires and aligned the vehicle but i still have this problem. After driving 2 other brand new accords from his lot and they all have the same defect at the exact same speed leads me to believe that the accord has a serious safety issue with its steering system. American honda has not made any effort on their part to help me or to correct the problem. This is my 3rd accord. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2009 Honda Accord - 1HGCS12749A- Louisville, KY: July 31st, 2012
Noticed that rear brakes started making a high pitch squealing noise. Took it in and had the rotors cleaned and they said brakes were fine and it was a defect on honda cars that the brakes tend to squeal. The cleaning did not help as it still makes a high pitch squealing noise.
