I noticed wet spots on the road under the truck near the left rear wheel after stopping. After further investigation i noticed that the brake lines are corroded in most places. There is currently a leak in the feed line running to the back brakes at a point near the left rear wheel. The lines look as if they could fail in most places. Currently the truck is nots drivable until the brake lines are replaced. We have had other numerous brake issues with this vehicle as well. *js

Brake hose in engine compartment developed pinhole leak due to heavy rust. Brake pedal went to the floor. Brake bleeder screws rusted solid- can't bleed lines after repairs. It appears that inferior quality metal brake lines were used that rust easily. This is a very low mileage vehicle. This is a very common problem with these trucks and gm needs to held accountable, and a recall should be issued as very serious crashes may occur.

Topic=43119. 0;wap2 please check out these links as i have been searching for a fix for my "reduced engine power" issue with my yukon. I've come across several others with the same issue. Most of which have taken the issue back to gm dealers, who get no support for the problem from the home office. I believe this could be a very dangerous issue. The issue itself is the truck kicks into "reduced engine power" mode and then it does not go any faster than idle which means it all of the sudden reduces the speed to 5 mph maximum as well as the power steering goes out and the abs brakes. That is very dangerous if you are on the highway. People have been troubleshooting the issue with no solid fixes from what i can find. I believe gm should come up with a fix so that isn't a dangerous hazard to consumers and owners of what looks like there 2003 model years, it seems to be mostly there 2003 model years. Gm doesn't seem to want to recognize this as an issue. Please help us consumers out, we would just like this problem solved. Thank you very much.

2004 gmc yukon xl: while driving at normal speeds this vehicle will have a warning light come on that says "reduced engine speed" then it shuts down to 30 mph instantly. There is no time for reaction. This problem occurs intermittently. It has happened over 50 times! A few of the times almost resulted in fatal consequences in high traffic. Took the vehicle to the dealer. They said it was the throttle body. Replaced throttle body and the next day had the same issue. Took it back to the dealer, they said it was now the accelerator pedal assembly. Replaced the assembly and two days later had the same problem. Contacted gmc by phone and was basically told that there was nothing they could do because my vehicle wasn't on the safety recall list. I really need some advice or help before it costs my wife and four children their lives!

When starting my 2003 gmc yukon the dash says reduced engine power.. It won't go over 15 mph.... It happens everyday! I have to keep restarting it and let it get warm before i can go anywhere. If this happens while i am driving it, and someone hits me i will sue gm, as i have been a loyal gm customer for 35 yrs... If you read all the complaints on the web about the same problem then you would definitely issue a recall before someone gets killed.

Driver side brake lines were completely rusted through and had to be replaced. Gmc dealer charged me $925. 33 and had my truck for 4 days. This truck only has 52,000 miles on it. Please make this a recall.

My 2009 gmc yukon xl has had multiple issues with the "reduced power" message. Not only is this affecting the driveability of our vehicle but also the safety of my family since this is our family car and my wife usually is driving it with out four children in it. It all started in august when the reduced power message came on for my wife with service stabilitrac and traction control, while she was driving our kids to school. The dealer said it was "rodent damage" to the throttle body wiring and replaced the connector. About a month later the same exact thing happened when she was going home from the kids school. The code that was scanned was p0335 crankshaft position sensor failure. The crankshaft position sensor was unplugged and reseated and the lights went away. On 10/6 the lights and reduced power message came back on, too the vehicle to the dealership and they could not find any issues "no defect found" tac case # 71-995354643. This has been an ongoing issue and with the chance of my wife and kids being stranded in the middle of no where or broke down on the side of the road is not something that i want from a car that is still under warranty! Not only is this car dangerous but also a headache! I called gm customer service and the regional representative told me that if the car is not doing anything right now then there is nothing they can do for me. I know that other people have this problem as well, i just want everyone to know and hopefully someone can get this fixed!

2005 Gmc Yukon Xl 1500 - 3GKEC16Z45G- Spring, TX: November 26th, 2011
Incident date: front cabin / in dash fire 11/25/2011 at 5:20pm vehicle: 2005 gmc yukon xl slt with approximately 120k miles vehicle was parked in driveway; had just been driven however the engine was off; 15-30 minutes later heard loud bang and glass breaking; front cabin of the vehicle was engulfed in flames; opened doors and sprayed water on until fire department got there. Insurance company has requested that the vehicle remain at place of incident until adjuster can investigate. Fire department best assumption at this point is that this was an electrical fire that started somewhere in the dash between the front center console and the steering column. We are the original owner; bought the vehicle new; no aftermarket options; other than tires and brakes, all original mftr equipment, all warranty work done at gmc dealership. We have extensive documentation with gmc for all warranty issues since it was purchased many of which have been electrical problems. Examples are steering column electronics, passenger a/c blowing hot air due to electrical, radio / cd player over heating replaced 2 times, dvd player replaced numerous times, sporadic incidents where dvd and dash components would just stop working requiring the vehicle to be turned completely off then back on for it to work; fuel gauge showing empty when the tank was full - car had to be turned off, key out, restart to correct; electronic fuel pump issues - replaced; load leveling electrical component replaced; electronic shifting components on transmission; electronic window switch, etc...

When traveling at any rate of speed, the reduce engine power light comes on at i lose all power. I must try and pull over at a safe place, stop the car, turn off ignition and wait 10-15 second before starting and just hope it will return to normal mode. This can happen many times in one day and then it may not happen at all for long periods of time. Very dangerous! I have been driving 70 mph and had to immediately try and pull over out of speeding traffic, onto a shoulder and stop my car with my children.

Hello around the beginning of june of 2011 i was driving my 2005 gmc yukon xl when suddenly i received an error message on my dash board stating "reduce engine power" automatically my speed went down. I pulled over to the side and did a diagnostic check with onstar, they informed me that the engine suddenly was reducing speed and the best thing to do was take it in to get checked at. On monday, june 6th i took it in to bob brown dealer in merle hay in des moines, ia, i spoke to bob lundy and informed him of the problem i was having, he informed me they had to do some diagnostic check again, i left my vehicle there and got a ride to work from them. In the pm i received a phone call from bob stating that all it was just a sensor so they would have to replace it i informed him that was fine as long as everything would be fixed. They charged me $457. 02, about a week later the engine light came back on and reduce engine power kicked in again, i called bob lundy at the gmc dealer and he stated that the sensor might have gone bad again. I waited about 2 weeks and took it in again and this time they cannot figure out what is going on with my truck, i even left it there overnight and all they can tell me is that they cannot figure the problem out. I am out $452 dollars and the reduce engine power acts up almost everyday! I have to keep pulling over in the interstate, street, or anywhere i am at in order to turn my vehicle off for 5 minutes and start it over for that error message to go away and for me to be able to drive my vehicle appropriately, otherwise the engine power is not working and i can only drive it up to 20 mph. Sometimes even when i restart my vehicle the message is still there and i have to wait and loose more time. This is affecting my everyday life, i have been late to meetings, work, to pick up my daughter. I want this fixed please! Bob brown dealer stated they don't know what the problem is with my vehicle, i think they just don't know how to fix it!!!

I usually open the whole tailgate to access the rear cargo area, however since i was towing a trailer i opened the rear glass to retrieve an item. When i pushed down to close the rear glass, i noticed that the glass did not fit to close properly. I opened the glass and saw that the passenger side hinge on the rear glass was broken and partially separated from the rear glass. This results in an unsafe condition, as the rear glass is now secured to the truck with a single hinge and the latch. I am worried that if i drive the truck on the highway the whole rear glass will have a catastrophic failure and injure drivers behind me. Using a plastic hinge at a point under heavy load seems like an obvious design flaw. *kb

2011 Gmc Yukon Xl 1500 - 1GKS1KE03BR- The Woodlands, TX: July 25th, 2011
2011 2-wd yukon xl 1500 engine stall. Took delivery 7/1/2011. On 7/5/2011, while driving at city speeds, engine stalled (shut off), was able to restart. This happened twice consecutively. Did not experience again until 7/14/2011. This time was driving in center lane, 5 lane freeway, during rush hour at posted 65 mph speed. Again, engine stalled (shut down). During 3 cycles of stall/shut down/restart, was able to make my way to right lane, drive/coast to exit ramp, exit freeway and enter a retail parking lot without an accident. During process, heard a pop/click to my left in the dashboard. Turned off air conditioner, restarted truck and made my way home. During this drive home, the alternator/voltage gauge needle bounced to extreme right for a short period of time, then settled back closer to center. Prior to incident, i had noticed same needle occasionally/oddly slight to the left. Truck was towed to selling dealership that evening. The following day, the service department ran full diagnostics and reported "nothing wrong with the vehicle/operating normally". There are no "codes" or any "history codes" showing anything abnormal occurred with the vehicle. 7/18/2011 opened case file with gm, but little assistance has been offered by them other than "we called the dealership". Truck has been housed at the dealership now for 11 days. We are at a stalemate. Our position is the car is not safe to drive. Dealership/gm's position is they can find nothing wrong with the vehicle. They have suggested we pick up the vehicle and drive it until the problem occurs again then again have it towed to the dealership. Our response is: if we agree to do that, and are lucky enough to again "survive" the occurrence without being involved in an accident, why do they/we believe they will be able to diagnose and repair the problem? We are waiting for someone/anyone to involve the factory for further technical assistance to resolve this problem.

There was a recall on gmc yukon xl 2500 series abs system campaign id # 05v379000 where the abs system will engage while braking causing increased braking distance and potential crashes. The problem occurs in the 1500 series as well why was there not a recall for this series which i have and have the same problem with? I called the gmc hotline and my local dealer and they tell me there are no recalls for my model and i don't drive my vehicle because i fear rear ending someone or rolling into an intersection when attempting to stop. *tt

This is the second time for this problem to occur with this vehicle. I filed a complaint ( 10398842 ) with your department on 05/03/2011. Since that date, we drove the vehicle to dallas, tx for a convention with no vehicle problems. Then on june 5th, we were returning from houston when the vehicle without any warning gave a message that the engine was going to reduced power while we were driving in traffic. We had to work our way to a safe area to park because we were a hazard to other drivers. This afternoon i called general motors to get some response to this problem. I was told again that the engine was protecting itself from damage. Again, i asked if it was more important to protect the engine than the occupants, the representative was rather testy about the issue. There was no response when i said that no automobile in america should shut down in traffic for a non emergency. Especially since the driver looses control of the operation of the vehicle. I have a picture of the instrument cluster during the reduced power interval which shows that all gauges were normal so there was no reason to expect any issues with the vehicle. The engine was at 500 rpm and would not gain speed. This is causing us to fear driving this vehicle. In any case, i cannot see any reason for any vehicle on the american roads to be under the control of itself while in traffic. The passengers should be the primary concern. I hope you can get to the bottom of this before an accident occurs with this vehicle. If there isn't a current recall on this vehicle for this problem, should there be? This is a low mileage well maintained vehicle.

2008 gmc yukon xl - door lock actuators repeated failure - safety issue as the doors will not lock automatically while underway and become a hazard. Also in the event of needing to unlock the doors in emergency it requires manual operation. This is a tremendous hazard and a known problem by gm and they fail to find adequate solution to the problem. They also refuse to replace the units out of 36k warranty. This is a chassis wide issue from chevy, cadillac, gmc suv for this model year.

Rear left door lock unlocks/locks intermittently when driving or exiting vehicle. Safety issue for child in rear seat as well as security issue if unlocked at home or parking lot. 2nd or 3rd time this has happened on this vehicle. Now at 38,000 miles and past warranty!
