2009 Gmc Canyon - 1GTCS139798- Scottsburg, VA: July 31st, 2012
My husband's brake lights went out on his 2009 gmc canyon. He took it to a dealer to have it fixed. We read online that there was a recall for his brake light switch. They checked his vin and said there wasn't anything. It isn't the bulbs, fuse, etc. They "fixed" it and said "it'll either work for the next 5 min or it won't work at all. " and handed him the keys. He drove it and sure enough, the lights went out, again. He took it back and the same thing happened. "it may or may not work, yada yada... " why would they hand them the keys plus allow it pass for inspection if it does not work? As far as i am concerned, the work has not been completed. My husband recently got out of the usmc and has yet to find work. We cannot afford to keep taking it back or yet pay for a ticket!!!!

My 2007 gmc canyon is suffering from the problems described in service bulletin #07123a, engine intake valve seat/misfire. The extended warranty granted to those in #07123a was for model years 2004-2006. My vehicle was built after this time frame but is evidence that the problem still exists. Gm should do the right thing and extend the service bulletin to include model year 2007. The vehicle has 48,864 miles on it and i was quoted $2,500 plus tax to make the repairs at brotherton gmc/cadillac in renton, wa.

Gmc admits that there is a major problem with the 5 cylinder motor. They know that there is documented evidence with the cylinder head leaking air, causing trouble with idle, and truck speeds, but they refuse to produce a recall even after allthe money that is dished out for this truck. The truck will go died at stop signs and is in constant misfire state while driving down the interstate, not to mention the gas mileage that is wasted because of this issue.!!! My vin number is [xxx]. Truck has 142000 miles now and is constantly going dead when the wheels are turned hard, or just sitting at stop signs or red lights.!!! 2007 Gmc Canyon - 1GTDT13E878- Inkster, MI: November 21st, 2011
To whom it may concern, i purchased my 2007 gmc canyon in february 2007 with trailer harness as standard equipment at fresard gmc. I actually almost caused an accident due to all my brake lights not working. I called gmc to report this incident due to internet research on recall for brake light failure. The rep tried to deny recall but i explained to her about recall. She located closest dealer which was red holman gmc for recall on brake light failure but they are trying to charge me $300 for new trailer harness plus additional labor cost. The dealership is stating that water got into my trailer harness which caused all the lights to stop working. I have not used the trailer and learned it was incorrectly installed at the factory. Can you please assist me with this problem because this is my primary transportation? [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

When i try to stop the vehicle after going between 5-10 mph, the abs system "activates" and makes a "grinding sound". It will do this after 3-4 stops and then the abs fault light will come on and the problem stops. If i start the truck and drive faster (15 mph or faster ) then brake, it doesn't do it at the higher speeds.

Anti-theft system would not allow the truck to start, then once started the entire dashboard components failed no speedometer, fuel, temp or air conditioner would work, also the traction control went into alarm... Gmc people said they could not see any alarm codes and failed to repair the anti-theft system... Recommended i get on-star to help identify the problem.. I did, it failed again and on-star saw the codes however gmc says they cannot trust on-star findings, even though they recommended them which is costing me $30. 00 a month to monitor their vehicles warranty.. Still driving a truck that sometimes does not start and the entire dashboard shuts down while driving... Very dangerous.
