2006 Ford Focus - 1FAFP36N16W- Bemidji, MN: August 29th, 2012
Drivers side rear door electric door lock will not lock. The same thing happened on the passengers side about two years ago.


2003 Ford Focus - 3FAHP37363R- Huntley, MT: August 28th, 2012
Ignition key will not turn in lock. Unable to start car. Wife stranded. Brought her other keys, same problem. Finally got lock to turn by viloently wiggling and pounding on key. Drove car home. Internet search seems to indicate this is a very common problem. We are the original vehicle purchasers.


2008 Ford Focus - 1FAHP33N58W- Millboro, VA: August 28th, 2012
At 60,000 miles the car started chewing up tires and still is. The first set it did this to were worn to the wire under the rubber before it was noticed. It has chewed up two more sets since then all in under 10,000 miles and the tires are rated for approx. 50,000 miles.


2010 Ford Focus - 1FAHP3EN1AW- Newton, MS: August 28th, 2012
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 ford focus. The contact stated that while parked the vehicle failed to start. The contact attempted to jump start the vehicle when she noticed sparks coming from the battery. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnose that there was an electrical shortage which damaged the starter. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000. Pmb

Tl- the contact owns a 2003 ford focus. While parked, the contact inserted the key into the ignition but was unable to start the vehicle because the ignition cylinder would not turn. The rear door lock on the drivers side stopped working. It is stuck in the unlocked position and cannot be locked manually or with the remote.

My vehicle attempts to stall when stopping or when, from a standing position, attempts to stall again. The vehicle has shut off when the low fuel light turns on and i mean immediately. The vehicle will fail to turn on in the mornings at times. It will take a few turns of the key and then it will start.

I was driving home friday and i notice a light on the left side of the dash and it look like a wrench, so after about 10 minutes the car began to slowdown, so i pressed the acceleration but the car would not speedup and it acted as tho the transmission was slipping so i was able to coast to the right lane and over to the side off, the freeway after i stop the car, then i turn the engine back on and the car would drive normal,if i accelerated slowly it acted like the trans was slipping,and after i got home i was going to back the car but it would not move when i placed the transmission in reverse it would not move. , this is a 2009 ford focus, and after reading the reviews on line i see that i am not the only that this have happen to, and this is a very dangerous place to be in on the freeway doing 70mph. And this happened ford should recall this mod of vehicles.

This occurred around 2008 i bought the car in 2007, when i drive the car on the freeway, or up a hill the gas paddle sticks , when i apply pressure to accelerate speed it doesn't move to give it more gas. It becomes frightening when i'm going uphill or on the freeway when cars are going 60 to 75 and on my tail my car slows down and i have to coast to the shoulder till it releases i have taken it in the ford dealership they said it was going to cost me over $200. 00. I feel this is a hazardous defeat and dangerous. 2010, i took my car in to a jiffy lube shop, and they lubricate the pulley it seems to help for awhile, but now itÂ?? S getting stuck again, at the mean time when it gets stuck i hit the speed control and it release the accelerator and increase the speed but putty soon that will not work. I have talk to a few other people that have a ford focus, they said they have had the same problems too, i have read about stuck accelerations and there are some cars that were recalled for the same hazardous problems.. I haven't had an accident as of yet because of this but i'm afraid if someone gets anger with my slow down i will... [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. The contact owns a 2010 ford focus. The contact stated that coolant was emitted through the air conditioning duct and leaked inside the vehicle. The failure caused electrical problems in the vehicle. A representative was sent by the manufacturer to install a coolant fan motor on the vehicle. The contact stated that after the installation, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified who offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 28,000.

2012 Ford Focus - 1FAHP3M22CL- Milwaukee, WI: August 2nd, 2012
Two incidents. While driving at a speed of about 25 miles per hour, the vehicle lost power and stalled on an arterial street. Traffic was light, and there was no danger to me or other motorists. The vehicle would not restart. Had the car towed to the dealer, and was told it was out of gas. The gauge had been reading 1/4 full at the time of the incident. The gauge continued to give false readings (moved from lower to higher amounts during the course of exhausting the fuel supply) over the next few weeks. Eventually the dealer diagnosed the fuel tank was warped, and replaced the tank. One week later, while driving the vehicle at night on an interstate highway approaching a major freeway system interchange, at a speed of approximately 60 miles per hour, the vehicle lost power and shut off, causing me to have immediately attempt to move across four lanes of moderately heavy traffic. This happened on a slight uphill incline, so the car lost forward speed very quickly. During the emergency maneuver, i was forced in front of another motorist, nearly causing an accident. The car was exhausted of fuel, but within ten minutes prior had shown a reading of 1/4 tank remaining. Immediately prior to the incident, the gauge needle was actually indicating 1/2 tank.

2012 Ford Focus - 1FAHP3E25CL- Franklin, MA: July 31st, 2012
The contact owns a 2012 ford focus. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the vehicle emitted a grinding noise and the transmission shifted erratically. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on many occasions, but the contact was informed that the transmission was performing as designed and the grinding noise was normal. 2007 Ford Focus - 1FAHP31N57W- North Lewisburg, OH: July 30th, 2012
2007 ford focus 3 door w/auto transmission. 130,000 miles. Car is shifting in and out of gear. Rpm suddenly rises for no reason. Strong vibration on the hills. Mechanic replaced the overdrive sensor as it was throwing a code. Ford wants $3700 to replace with new transmission. I'm not convinced that it isn't a problem with the transmissions computer or wiring. There seems to be a lot of similar stories about these ford focus transmissions. Its not a well built unit. Ford knows these transmission are not reliable and should replace and remann them all!

Got the car on wednesday july 25th after a week long wait for key.... Long story..... The first incident happened 2 hours after picking up the car. Sitting in a drive thru. "power steering assist fault, maintenance required". Turned car off and on problem went away. Next day sitting in traffic, the problem returned called for service and taking the car in for service. Wish i would have looked this up prior to purchase!

2012 Ford Focus - 1FAHP3F26CL- Brownsburg, IN: July 19th, 2012
Purchased a new 2012 ford focus with automatic transmission in april, 2012. Immediately experienced low speed transmission shifting problems and also discovered complete free roll backward, unending, until hitting level ground and/or hitting an object while rolling backwards on an incline, even while in gear. This is a serious safety and driver liability issue. Dealership has re-programmed transmission on a technical service bulletin without success. Dealership had me test drive another 2012 focus thinking it would not demonstrate the same safety problem... And to their surprise.. The test drive vehicle they gave me also performed the same way on the free rollback while in gear. I believe the fundamental problem here is that ford has designed and manufactured in the 2012 focus line a standard/manual transmission (poorly shifted by software and dysfunctional on the free roll back issue) and is marketing it to all consumers as an automatic transmission. Service department acknowledges that it truly is a standard/manual design. The window sticker and sales process misrepresents to the consumer that it is an automatic transmission. This may constitute consumer fraud on a national level leading to either class action litigation, total recall and/or individual cases of litigation. I am considering all of the above as the problem remains and has not been rectified.


2012 Ford Focus - 1FAHP3F25CL- Berryville, VA: July 17th, 2012
The trunk lid is out of alignment the vehicle shudders at acceleration major suspension work required do to engineering and production engine shudders and clunks when shutting off rough idle and engine misses. Problems are inconsistent.
