2012 Fleetwood Southwind - 1F66F5DYXB0- Anthem, AZ: August 13th, 2012
While traveling on rt 70 east at aprox, 60 mph i hear a clunk from under thr vehichle. I pulled over and was able to get under the vehichle and found one bolt missing from the drivers side "u " bracket holding the stabilizer bar to the frame and the other bolt only hand tight. When i checked the passenger " u " bracket both bolts were only hand tight.

I was informed of 2 safety recalls for this vehicle, tuthill, and spartan chassis won't make the necessary repairs, citing the age of the vehicle, i wasn't aware of the recalls until this year, and now am worried about the safety of the vehicle, and can't afford to have the repairs done.

2000 Fleetwood Bounder - 4UZ6XFBC6YC- Orange , CA: July 6th, 2012
Fuel injection pump failure due to inadequate fuel delivery. This pump is a bosch vp44 pump and according to the cummins blog websites and the factory authorized dealer, this part has a 100% failure rate. When the pump fails the engine shuts off and doesn't restart. My vehicle is a 25000 pound motor home, and when it dies out at freeway speeds can be very dangerous. Bosch and cummins know about the problem, but are unwilling to assist the customer in any way even though they admit that it is a design fault. In their words "we admit that it wasn't our best design". According to the blogs this is the issue: the most common mechanical failure of the vp44 pump is rupturing of the diaphragm in the front of the injection pump. The diaphragm ruptures allowing the timing piston to vibrate and damage the front cover until fuel bypasses. This will cause the dreaded check engine trouble code p0216. When this occurs your bosch vp44 injection pump must be replaced. The rupturing of the diaphragm is caused by a poorly designed lift pump. When the lift pump does not supply the injection pump with the correct amount of fuel pressure (a minimum of 5psi under load at wide open throttle) the diaphragm then doesn't have enough positive pressure and ruptures. Dodge has recognized this problem as they will no longer even sell the lift pump that goes on the side of the block, they replace it with a unit that is now mounted in the tank. I have asked for assistance but was offered nothing. The cost to change this part is over $3000. 00 dollars, but even more important is the fact that they have a design which is inherently dangerous. Had this happened 10 miles later, i would have been half way up a mountain road. On a diesel motor home when the engine dies, you loose brakes, power everything.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technician stated the brake wire had melted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

The contact owns a 2008 fleetwood sante fe. The contact stated that power steering fluid leaked whenever the vehicle was driven. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the rack and pinion was replaced. The current and failure mileages were 73,000.


2005 Fleetwood Discovery - 4UZAAHDC74C- Southriding, VA: May 17th, 2012
The contact owns a 2005 fleetwood discovery. While the vehicle was parked the contact noticed the front driver and passenger side windows were fogged making it impossible for him to see through the windows. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technicians contacted the manufacturer and they replaced the driver and passenger side windows. The failure occurred a second time approximately one year after the windows were replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

The contact owns a 2012 fleetwood storm. When driving the vehicle on a sunny day, the contact noticed that he could not see the instrument panel clearly enough to tell what speed he was driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the design of the instrument panel could not be changed. The current and failure mileages were 5,700. 2002 Fleetwood Terra - 5B4LP57G323- Waleska, GA: May 1st, 2012
2002 fleetwood terra p32 chassis - i had taken my foot off the gas pedal as i approached an intersection on a four lane highway. I noticed that the brake pedal went to the floor and the motor home was not slowing as it should with this amount of foot pressure on the brake pedal. I was able to safely turn into a parking lot and the motor home stopped due to an incline. I had my son get into the drivers seat and keep his foot on the brake pedal as i placed wheel chocks on the vehicle. As it turns out, the auto park brake had failed as well (multiple failures in the last few years). The mechanic states that this brake failure appears to be very similar to the brake issues experience by workhorse w series chassis's that are involved in a brake recall campaign. Part failure is rear brake calipers. I have also noticed multiple internet complaints regarding the workhorse chassis auto park brake as being a constant problem. My motor home has had multiple auto parking brake failures in each year for the past several years. The vehicle mileage is an estimate since it is still in the shop being repaired again. *js

The contact owns a 1995 fleetwood american dream rv with a spartan chassis, model number: 2242 (mountain master). The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the power steering failed and driving became difficult. The contact stated that the failure was caused by the air compressor pump. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic twice for repairs to the power steering and the air compressor pump but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,916. Updated 05/08/12*lj the consumer stated the power steering and the brake failed while making a turn. It was discovered the air compressor for the brakes was broken. The air compressor was designed for the power steering pump to bolt to the back side of the air compressor that runs the power steering pump. Updated 05/30/12

The 2004 fleetwood discovery has faulty windows that could potentially cause danger to drivers, passengers, and other drivers due to lack of visibility. I am an owner and would like fleetwood to rectify this problem immediately before it is too late!

Have a sprinter motor home with kuhmo tires model # road venture at, size lt215/85r-16. The right rear tire failed and tread separated from tire. I had the spare tire installed by a tire dealer to replace the defective tire. The tire dealer kept the defective tire.

While traveling south on interstate 85 north of montgomery, al, the carlisle trail radial tire blew out causing $7000+ in damage to my rv. Carlisle sent me 5 replacement tires but denied my claim for damages.

I have been closely monitoring the kumho road venture at lt215/85 r16s on my 2010 fleetwood pulse motorhome because other owners have reported problems on the pulse yahoo forum. Today, i noticed a 4 to 5 inch long, 1 inch high bulge on the shoulder between the tread and sidewall on my left rear inner dual. The tire was fully inflated. The motorhome has only been driven a few hundred miles in the past 6 weeks, since i last inspected the tires. Kumho failures on fleetwood pulse / icon / quest motorhomes have been frequently reported. They are on 2008 dodge sprinter chassis and the date code indicates manufacture early in 2007. Dot code h20p yd4a 2307. It seems that a recall would be warranted. (also, please note that several other similar complaints can be found by searching under the "kumho" "kumho" line of tires. Many of them seem to be the road venture(s) at line of tires. )


2002 Fleetwood Southwind - 1FCNF53S510- Orange, CA: October 25th, 2011
We returned from a trip (drove about 50 miles) and parked the vehicle in front of our home. When i started it back up to take it back to indoor storage, the spark plug blew out of the ford v10 engine and stripped out the threads on the cylinder head. I have never heard of this happening before, but the dealer indicated that it happens quite often on these earlier ford v10's. Before ford changed the design of the cylinder heads. I searched the internet and discovered a significant number of complaints regarding this issue. I just want to log in my engine failure as yet another incident of this frequent failure. I think ford should cover the repair when it occurs and change both cylinder heads with the new design (if possible) once a vehicle experiences spark plug blow out failure.

Bought my rv new with 537 miles on it. Over the past year i have had multiple tires develop sidewall bubbles. I have purchased 6 new tires since i purchased my rv. 1) sidewall bubble 9/21/2010 at 4425 miles. 2) sidewall blowout 5/10/2011 at? Miles. 3) (2 tires) sidewall blowout and sidewall bubble 8-20-2011 at 17135 miles. 4) tire tread separation 9/29/2011 at 20010 miles. Tires are kumho road venture at lt 215-85r16 dot # h20p yd4a the fleetwood dealer ask me on 6/3/2011, if i have had any problems with my tires. I told him i told his service department about my tires problems. He told me that they have sold over 100 of these rv's and more than 30% have had problems with the tires. *tt


1996 Fleetwood Pace Arrow - 3FCMF53G0TJ- San Antonio, TX: September 12th, 2011

While driving approximately 62 mph, the windshield rubber gasket detached from the frame which caused the glass to fracture and blow inside of the vehicle. The contact maneuvered to the side of the road where he noticed extremely small particles of glass on the front driver's side interior. There was no personal injury. The contact temporarily repaired the vehicle with duck tape in order to resume. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
