2007 Buick Lacrosse - 2G4WC582071- Portland, TX: August 29th, 2012
While driving on local freeway low beam headlights suddenly went out and could not be turned on manually. Has been occurring intermittently since that time. I am afraid to drive this car at night as this is very dangerous.

1995 Buick Riviera - 1G4GD22K9S4- Lebanon, OH: August 27th, 2012
Tl- the contact owns a 1995 buick riviera. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact of a recall. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the power control module needed to be replaced and that the vehicle was not part of any recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The failure and current mileage was 110,000. Pmb

2007 Buick Terraza - 5GADV331X7D- Palmetto, FL: August 24th, 2012
Sliding side doors will not close and lock, will open when driving down the road, at red light , night times lights dim and alarm goes off ,nothing lights up on dash , drains batt- in shop 4 or 5 x"s when talked to corp. Office about the danger of grandkids in back, stated due to living in florida, being wet, there is nothing they can due. So until someone gets hurt or dies, it is more or less oh well... By the way still under warr. Dealer stated the same thing... Yes i have all paperwork to this, put in shop not even one week after bought with smoking under hood.

2009 Buick Enclave - 5GAEV23D29J- Clifton Park, NY: August 21st, 2012
The engine on my 2009 enclave was replaced in feb of 2012 because it was cracked , at the time i had approximately 32k on the car. There was no indication of a problem the car just died on a major highway. The car again died a few weeks later due to a timing belt snapping. On 8/10/12 i was traveling from my home state of new york to virginia for vacation, with my family, and the car lost power again on a major highway at 10:30 at night we had to have the car towed, find a hotel and then rent a car to get to our destination. This time it was a fuel injector and an o2 sensor. We have incurred over $900. 00 in expenses we have contacted buick and they are not willing to do anything about this car. We will no longer be covered by a warranty after 50k the car currently has about 43k. The car has broken down 3 times since feb. Each time with my family in it, there is never any indication that the car is going to break down it just dies. I am fearful to keep putting my family in this car what do i do?

The dash cover is separating ahead of the steering wheel. The dash is raising up starting to cause visibility issues. Very concerned that this may go across the dash into the airbag area and cause the airbags to deploy in normal driving conditions.

On july 12, 2012 while entering the interstate the check engine light and traction stability service light came on. The car would not accelerate or shift, i could not increase speed to merge into highway traffic, as i tried to merge the vehicle slowly increased speed, not normally accelerating. I eventually was able to get to 55 mph. The next time i drove the car it acted fine. Two days later while driving at 60 mph on the interstate without warning the check engine light, traction stability service warning light, the abs brake warning light all came on the brakes felt like mush, the car slowed in traffic, all while in the passing lane with traffic behind me. This created an extremely dangerous condition that could have easily resulted in serious injury or death. I eventually was able to move to the middle lane (3 lane roadway) and nursed the vehicle destination. When i started out again it acted fine w/check engine light and traction system warning light on then w/out warning while trying to enter the interstate again all gauges failed, ac shut off, cruise control power went off, the vehicle would not accelerate, would not shift, speed slowed from 30 to near 20, then systems started to turn back one at a time & was able to nurse the car home at 50 - 55 mph, it would not shift or accelerate correctly. Took vehicle to dealer,where purchased, they had the vehicle for 2 1/2 weeks called me stated "we can not get it to act up, come and pick up car" not repaired. I asked about codes in computer, i have a copy of these, they stated they were history codes not hard codes. When i asked about them forcing me to drive a dangerous vehicle, could cause serious injury or death, they said if it acts up to bring it back. Within 12 hrs the same events occurred as listed above. I drove it to them while all warning lights were on. They still have car it has not been repaired yet.

Transmission does not hold at all - will move forward while in reverse at the slightest incline - also does not shift down to pass other vehicles - very sloppy sluggish transmission.

The contact owns a 2011 buick lacrosse. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated when the front passenger seat was occupied, indicating that the air bag was not functioning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. The dealer contacted technical support, who instructed the dealer not to modify the vehicle because it was designed to only recognize certain weights of individuals. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 11,290.

2009 Buick Enclave - 5GAEV23D89J- Arlington, WA: July 31st, 2012
For about a month now, our power steering seems to be tightening up when steering a tight radius like turning a sharp corner or pulling into a parking space. It is very frequent occurring every day now. I have 3 kids i drive daily to multiple locations and am worried about my and their safety. If i was driving at a high speed and had to swerve to avoid something in my path this would make me very nervous. I have read many blogs about this issue and gm had better take this into serious consideration for a world-wide recall. I cannot believe for the price of this vehicle the amount of issues it has. Very very disappointed in this car.

In the last 2 months, i have had multiple problems with the power steering tightening and locking up, narrowly avoiding running off the road or into another vehicle several times. When i took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic, they declared that the power steering rack had malfunctioned and that there were metal shavings in the power steering pump. Both the power steering rack and pump would need to be replaced. It was also determined that this was not caused by wear and tear. When i researched similar complaints online it appears that this is a recurring problem with the 2008 and 2009 buick enclaves due to faulty equipment by gm. I am very concerned that this make result serious accidents and request the nhtsa to look into this matter.

2008 Buick Lucerne - 1G4HE57Y78U- Rochester Hills, MI: July 24th, 2012
Purchased vehicle 4/2/12. 6/30/12 car would not start. Full power and crank but would not engage. Car towed and diagnosed as fuel pump/relay. The relay was melted. Repaired without incident. July 23,2012 car repeated. No start. Car towed again and relay is melted again. Researching it seems to be a common event occurring in 2008 v8. Mechanic has determined it to be an electrical problem stemming from fuse and amps being delivered to relay.

Steering went out without warning. Items necessary to correct problem are replacement of power steering and gears. Gm does not cover under power train warranty. By simply viewing edmunds. Com you will see that this problem has affected multiple years and multiple consumers. The issue is an obvious design problem for buick and should be recalled and fixed.

We noticed around mid-june that our 2004 buick lasabre had a warped dashboard and is pulling away from the vent area. I was told that this can and probably will continue to spread and endanger our lives by the airbag deploying while driving. This is a definite safely hazard and a defect and i am aware that this is happening to many buicks and the company is unwilling to correct the situation.

2005 Buick Rendezvous - 3G5DB03735S- Orlando, FL: July 17th, 2012
The contact owns a 2005 buick rendezvous. While the vehicle was in drive the contact attempted to shift to park but the vehicle would not respond. The contact shut the vehicle off and tried to restart it but it would not restart. The vehicle was towed to a transmission shop. The technician stated that the torque converter, the internal switch, the shift linkage rod and the internal parking rod would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

I parked the vehicle in parking bay at a gas station and went inside. I was in there approximately 3 minutes and a gentleman game into the building and asked did anyone in there own a buick lacrosse. I said it was mine, he told me it had rolled out of the parking bay towards his mercedes, he had stopped my vehicle. I subsequently found i had turned the engine off while the vehicle was in drive so there was no braking effect. Where i had parked the pavement was a very gentle slope so i did not notice any movement of the vehicle when i alighted from it. This model has remote wireless key so you do not insert any key to either start or stop the engine. To start you have to have the key within the vehicle be in either park or neutral and depress the foot brake and then press the start button. What i have found is when turning off the engine the vehicle can be in any of the following, drive, reverse, neutral or park. So if you happen to be in anything but park and then turn off the motor then the vehicle is free to roll away with the possibility of it hitting something or worse still hitting a person. With all automatic vehicles i have previously owned you needed to put the vehicle in park before you could remove your key and after exiting the vehicle you knew it was effectively braked and was not going to roll away. I believe this matter needs addressing before it does result in a possible fatality. To alleviate the possibility of the vehicle moving either the engine/transmission management system needs to be altered so that you must put the vehicle in park before turning off the engine or at the very least there should be either an audible alarm or visual alarm to alert the driver that the driver has not left the vehicle in a safe condition. After contacting the dealer it was determined this anomaly applied to all of these vehicles.

Went to turn left from a slow coast off of a two lane road into a parking lot with traffic coming from opposite direction. The steering got really tight and i needed maximum force from my arms to turn the wheel to get the car out of the way of an oncoming vehicle that had to quickly apply brakes to avoid hitting me. I had just got two new tires when the event occurred and spent the next 10 months with two more tires thinking the tire store had messed up the steering. They looked it over twice and couldn't find any issues. The steering became so the tightness was felt mostly getting into parking spaces at slow speeds. Then, i almost hit a parked car the first week of june when turning left again from not being able to turn the wheel, so i took it to the dealer where they diagnosed a failed steering pump and a leak in the steering rack. Gmc paid for the parts and i paid $700. 00 for the labor.

I narrowly avoided 2 accidents recently when i was unable to turn my vehicle into driveways with vehicles coming in the opposite direction. The steering wheel would not turn. The service manager at the buick dealership said that it was a power steering failure.

2008 Buick Lacrosse - 2G4WC582281- Moore, OK: July 11th, 2012
Headlights went off while driving 60 mph in the dark and no nearby light sources were present. Turned headlight control to manual and still no headlights. Stopped vehicle and everything but the headlights were still working. Turned off the air conditioning, the fan, the radio, and still no headlights. Turned car off and back on, still no headlights. Turned car off again and waited 5 minutes and restarted car and headlights came on. This has happened 2 times now, 3 months apart. Dealership denied any knowledge of this problem the 1st time i talked to them, but admits now that several other people have also tried to get this problem fixed but they were unable to duplicate the problem. If i had been driving on a curve, i would most likely be dead now and they would be guessing why i ran off the road (user error), when they know there is a defect in design. Light switch on manual should bypass everything except the fuse.

2011 Buick Lacrosse - 1G4GE5ED8BF- Vernon , CT: July 10th, 2012
The contact owns a 2011 buick lacrosse. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph and attempting to turn into an intersection, another vehicle jumped the medium and crashed into the driver side of the contact's vehicle. The contact mentioned that none of the air bags deployed. A police report was filed and the driver sustained injuries to the neck, back and leg. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the air bag system was performing up to standards. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue who advised the contact that they would send an engineer to further investigate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. 2002 Buick Century - 2G4WY55J221- Goodrich, MI: July 9th, 2012
The contact owns a 2002 buick century. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the rear-view mirror fractured and detached from the windshield. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was contacted who advised the contact to purchase glue to reinstall the rear-view mirror and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 93,000.
