2009 Buell 1125r - 4MZHL04D193- Guntown , MS: July 18th, 2012
Been having a system voltage error for a while. It would come and go. So in june i had to change the battery because it was so low. The day after i changed the battery the battery light came on so i was just trying to get home from work. The wheel locked up on me when i down shifted through the gears. Found out the stator fried which these bikes are known for. The reason it locked up i'm assuming is that since the stator drained the new battery all the way down that the fuel system shut off then when i pulled the clutch in to down shift the motor shut off then it didn't allow the rear wheel to spin.

2009 Buell 1125cr - 4MZYL04LX93- San Diego, CA: July 11th, 2012
Voltage started jumping around on my way to work one morning. My voltage dropped to 10. 9, then my lights died. I was able to pull off the side of the interstate as the bike was bucking and sputtering to a stop. It was not a pleasant experience.

2009 Buell 1125cr - 4MZYL04D493- Ramsey, NJ: June 28th, 2012
The stator (charging system) failed. This is the second time this failed. The first time it failed was about 1. 5 years ago. At that time, the motorcycle was under warranty. Now, the bike is no longer under warranty. There is a design flaw in the charging system whereas the stator over heats and fails to charge the battery. It's happened 2 times on my bike. Parts are hard to come by because harley davidson doesn't make the bike anymore. There are 1000's of cases of 2009 and 2010 buell 1125 stators burning up.

2009 Buell 1125cr - 4MZYL04D693- Brandon, FL: May 1st, 2012
While on the bridge from tampa to st petersburg florida, i275, my motorcycle hesitated and stalled while still on the long bridge, leaving me vulnerable to traffic traveling at highway speeds. I have owned the motorcycle since new, from tampa harley davidson. The cause of the incident was a failed charging stator, which resulted in draining of the battery while on the interstate.

2009 Buell 1125r - 4MZZHL04DX9- Ranchos De Taos, NM: April 26th, 2012
Applied rear brake and it didn't work so i pushed harder and it engaged but locked on, causing a near crash due to rear tire locking up.

2008 Buell 1125r - 4MZHL04L083- Los Angeles, CA: April 12th, 2012
The contact owns a 2008 buell 1125r motorcycle. The contact stated that while entering the highway at 55 mph, the engine rpm's increased to 5000-6000 as the vehicle abnormally decelerated. In addition, the contact stated that while his hands were over the throttle, the front end of the vehicle rose from the ground rapidly, almost throwing the contact from the vehicle. The failure was recurring. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,184.

2009 Buell 1125r - 4MZHL04D093- Oklahoma City, OK: January 24th, 2012
I have had three experiences with the stator failing. The first time was august of 2011 the bike had 5660 miles, and i had owned it for about 16 mos. It started with a system voltage reading and the battery was losing its charge making it impossible to start without jumping or putting a charger on the battery. The next episodes were twice in january of 2012 at 6786 miles, when the headlights shut off and the speedometer began flickering and the turn signals also quit working. I checked all fuses and now i have turn signals and speedo lights but no headlights whether on hi or low beam, and i am again getting a system voltage reading on the speedo. How many times will this have to happen before harley davidson is forced to come up with a safe and effective fix for this problem? Must someone die first? I have read online of people using a 2008 stator and having no more problems.

2009 Buell 1125r - 4MZHL04D693- Springfield, MO: November 1st, 2011
The contact owns a 2009 buell 1125r motorcycle. The contact stated that he took the vehicle in for routine maintenance when he was advised that there was a small hole in the side of the vehicle and all of the clutch fluids had leaked. The dealer ordered the parts needed for repairs at the owners expense but the parts had not yet become available. The manufacturer was notified who filed a claim on behalf of the contact but offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 1,400.

2009 Buell 1125r - 4MZHL04D593- Florissant, MO: October 26th, 2011
The stator failed, so the engine cut-out as i was riding when the electrical system was unable to provide enough power to run the control systems. The charging system was also affected, resulting in a drained battery. When the engine cut-out, the rear wheel skidded (just short of locking up) until i pulled the clutch to take the engine out of gear. I had to coast to the shoulder of the road, presumably with no brake lights or indicator lights. *tt

2009 Buell 1125r - 4MZHL04DX93- Ranchos De Taos , NM: October 20th, 2011
Have had two stators fail within two months.

2009 Buell 1125cr - 4MZYL04D293- Longwood, FL: October 18th, 2011
I was cruising down road and headlight started to flicker and get dimmer and dimmer. Not wanting to get hit by someone i pulled off road and checked instrument cluster and said charging system failure. Not even 4,000 miles on brand new bought bike and just out of warranty. This is a safety concern and could cause serious injury or death their should be a recall as alot of people who own these motorcycles have had this happen more than once.

2008 Buell 1125r - 4MZHL04D183- Vestal, NY: October 14th, 2011
Stator failure along with a clutch leak that caused oil to get on the back tire and cause an accident, bike was totalled.

2009 Buell 1125r - 4MZHL04D993- Portsmouth, VA: October 13th, 2011
During light traffic (stop-and-go) and low-rpm operation of the motorcycle (highway speeds in high-gear), the stator windings over heat and short. This causes the electrical system to drain the battery until the electrical and lighting systems fail completely. The stator was replaced with a brand new oem part by a certified technician at the servicing dealership, but the same mode of failure and results happened again later in the same year (august 2010) at 7000 mi on the odometer.

2009 Buell 1125cr - 4MZYL04D793- Lusby, MD: October 12th, 2011
Motorcycle lost voltage as indicated on instrument display while riding in moderate traffic. Pulled over immediately in a safe manner to ease possible congestion and not incur an accident. Local harley dealer picked up bike at side of the road on a moderate to heavy traffic state route. Diagnosis from dealer was complete stator failure impacting the charging ability of the motorcycle. Harley is covering with warranty work on stator with same year model equipment, 2009. Several reported websites indicate stator will likely fail again at some point in a few thousand miles. It cannot be expressed the concern this can have at highway speeds on major interstates and thoroughfares. *kb

2009 Buell 1125r - 4MZHL04D793- Coshocton, OH: October 12th, 2011
Component: electrical system:alternator/generator/regulator the stator & regulator/rectifier assemblies on the 2009 buell 1125r and 2009 buell 1125r motorcycles create a uncontrolled build up of electrical heat that can cause these components to fail. The stator assemblies have insufficient thermal protection to handle the heat generated by the charging system. This causes the electrical insulation to melt to a point where a short circuit situation is created and the stator fails. The regulator/rectifier was produced with insufficient ability to dissipate heat generated by the charging system. This condition causes excessive heat within the charging system and uncontrolled electric current output which can result in insufficient charging current being provided to the motorcycle battery. This can cause the discharge of the buell motorcycle's battery, which can lead to stalling or a non-start condition; if the motorcycle's engine stalls, it could increase the risk of a crash. *kb

I was riding on hwy17 in kentucky about 50 to 60 mph when the bike just died. I had no turn signals or brake lights. The good thing was my brother in law was behind me to control traffic. This also could have been a further issue if i had lost power 4 miles down the road in the sharp turns. *kb
